Top Critic Average
The result is something that’s… average. Average, the most boring of the conclusions to reach, to write about, to read about. So sorry about that. But as you’ll know, not the most boring to play – it just means it’s fine, it passes the time, it could be a lot better with a clearer interface, the removal of its gibberish plot, and much fairer windows for the timing challenges, but none of that would raise it much past “above average”. It’s just an average idea, done reasonably well. And sometimes that’s enough.
A strikingly good puzzle game based around pressing buttons that becomes fantastically complicated, with a strong techno soundtrack that compliments the aesthetic perfectly.
A good time passer, imprint-X is worth its reasonable price but isn’t a bastion of breathtaking gameplay. It has its flaws, many notable but none game ruining. Despite that, it definitely requires some brainpower. Don’t expect to be enraptured by days of scintillating gameplay, but also don’t expect to breeze through it on your first try.
Overall, imprint-x is a puzzle game you play while in a light trance. The puzzles range from simplistic to cruelly complex, the game maintains a quick pace once it gets past the hour-long introduction stage, and the gameplay constantly morphs as new mechanics are added at a rapid pace. If it weren't for that one issue with movement and input lag, I'd almost consider it worth the five dollar asking price.
