Critic Reviews for Save The Ninja Clan

Remember when platform games got you so hooked you wanted to keep going even after the character dies dozens of times? Well here we go again. Save The Ninja Clan

Save the Ninja Clan isn’t the most unique title on the market, but it has more than enough to warrant recognition as its own game. Sure, it is incredibly reminiscent of Super Meat Boy, but as a game everyone enjoyed so much, that really isn’t a bad thing. For just $2.99, this is possibly one of the best value for money titles you’ll buy this year.

There's not much to Save the Ninja Clan, but there doesn't really need to be. It's simple, fast, brutal and great fun in short bursts, without any of the baggage that comes from other games in the genre.

Save the Ninja Clan is a solid platformer that might be a bit overzealous in the difficulty department, and may not be the prettiest thing you've ever seen. Still, it's a good way to spend your time, and while it may not feel fresh, it definitely feels complete. While it feels like a fairly typical platforming experience, it's a great experience nonetheless.

Overall, I see Save The Ninja Clan as a game that will be good for speed runners, but can also be fun for the casual gamer who likes a challenge. It’s by no means an easy game but the comedic elements make it feel less frustrating at the lack of ability by the player. The problem for me is the lack of content here, it really doesn't take that long to finish and personally unless I’m feeling nostalgic I don't see myself playing it again any time soon which is a shame because I feel what is there is very well made for an Indie title. The biggest question here is would I recommend the purchase? For the price tag, I would say if you are curious about the title it’s definitely worth the investment even if it turns out to be only for the experience of the single play through.

What it comes down to is that Save The Ninja Clan is a budget version of those bigger and more refined games you’ll tend to hear about. It’s not as polished, the characters aren’t as cute or cool, and the controls aren’t as spot-on tight. That said it is likely less than half the price of almost anything else in the category so it may not be a bad deal. If you like a challenge and have a few bucks to blow it’s at least entertaining in bursts.
