Critic Reviews for Construction Simulator 2 - Console Edition
Construction Simulator 2 is a celebration of the mundane; a relaxing game that reassures you with every repeated action as you patiently build your construction empire. And it achieves that with brilliance. It would be harsh to say the unpredictable driving ruins the reassuring regularity, but when every other nail has been hammered with such precision, this slight misstep sticks out like the sore thumb that the hammer hit instead. Still, this is a highly recommended way to spend a few weeks, despite that rather odd issue.
The game was enjoyable when it worked. However, there are far too many times that it didn't work that marred my experience. Like many contractors I've dealt with in real life, the game left the job half-finished and with its paycheck anyway. Keep the barrels out and the safety lights on, because this one still needs some work.
Construction Simulator 2 gives a fascinating insight into building processes, and a deeper appreciation of specialist construction machinery.
Construction 2 Simulator has some annoyances but still manages to provide a relatively decent sim experience with a lot of content and decent presentation.
Despite the small target-audience and poor camera controls in docked mode, Construction Simulator 2 exceeded my expectations. The game offers high replay incentive, no performance issues, and a lot of depth, especially for the price. It is also a newbie-friendly game if you aren't too experienced in simulation titles. Even if construction isn't your forte, it's hard not to recommend picking this title up if you like the genre.
Construction Simulator 2 has some rough patches, but overall provides a fun and semi-realistic experience of one of the roughest and most grueling jobs out there. The game suffers from lulls in action, but when the action kicks in there is a lot to appreciate. A so-so affair throughout makes for a niche game for those looking for a casual experience.
Construction Simulator 2 is a surprise package wrapped in hours of content that has depth, enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment to complete which I really wasn't expecting for this price point. That being said (in case it isn't obvious by now...) I would enjoy Construction Simulator 2 even more if I didn't have the steering difficulty on a Nintendo Switch. On top of this, the art and environmental design of the whole game really makes for a realistic experience I think anyone who plays this game is going to be pleasantly surprised by.
So many possibilities exist to make this into an exciting and enjoyable game. Sadly, in its current form, it just isn't.
