The Surge: The Good, the Bad, and the Augmented is a decent addition to the overall experience, with some new mechanics, such as the modifiers, which work well. The gimmicky nature of the mini-stages and bosses, and the lack of a proper story, make it a worthy purchase only for die-hard fans of the game.

The Good, The Bad and The Augmented isn't exactly bad, it's just that it does so surprisingly little compared to the last piece of content, that it feels lacking with the sequel expected within the next year. And this town isn't big enough for the both of them. Pretty hard pass unless you're dying for more Surge.

The Good, The Bad and The Augmented feels rushed and offers little for returning fans to do. Between levels being comprised of the same stages in a different order or altered enemies is reminiscent of the complaints about wondering through similar looking ducts. Despite there being a fair number of weapons and armor, a lot of them are reskins and none of them are different or good enough to justify changing for, unless you're a newcomer. Add this with lackluster challenges and an underwhelming end and it just feels more like a rushed expansion than something fans or newcomers need to see.

A decent investment for The Surge faithful.

More of an experiment that feels lacking next to the previous substantial expansion for The Surge. This new DLC doesn't feel like it is worth its asking price, especially when a sequel is already underway.

The Surge's new expansion wastes a theme that could be better enjoyed, especially if it worked the same way as in A Walk in the Park. An arena mode creates just another opportunity to take advantage of the good gameplay that The Surge has, but adds nothing for the veterans players of the game, maybe the intended audience for this content.

Unfortunately the second DLC for this game does not offer an engaging experience, nor does its price justify its short play time and poorly designed new levels. Maybe if you are a die hard fan of the game and are looking for a reason to get back to its world, you can compel yourself to buy this DLC. But you should note that this experience will only last 5 to 6 hours.

As you’d expect, there’s a general sense of welcome levity to everything that happens, though I honestly can’t remember Warren uttering a single word, and that hints at an underlying truth here: while the more playful tone of this DLC is infinitely preferable to the crushing darkness of the base game, The Good, the Bad, and the Augmented exists mostly as a series of maps designed primarily for hardcore players to grind on for tech scrap and new equipment.

The Surge finished off its story-based content with A Walk in the Park the developers at Deck13 decided to provide an alternate take on the bloody technological world. Set in a western landscape The Good, The Bad, and The Augmented gives the players several episodes with new bosses, items, and challenges to overcome. Those who are looking for the most challenging experience The Surge has to offer will find a lot to love with The Good, The Bad, and The Augmented.
