Critic Reviews for MagiCat

A platformer with a good level of challenge an lifespan and a visually attractive environment, MagiCat has plenty of competition and ends up not standing above its peers due to a feeling of repetitiveness and a gameplay that sometimes can feel out of place but the game is competent enough to be appealing to fans of platform games.

An engaging, technically solid, surprisingly varied, and highly replayable action-platformer.

Overall, if you like platformers, pixeltastic indie releases and/or cute games, then MagicCat is definitely the game for you! While it's not a game that requires a lot of experience with the genre, it still has its moments where it shines thanks to some clever gameplay and solid platforming sections that will keep you hooked until the end.

It's definitely a solid platformer with a lot of replay value, and at a cost that is very compelling. It's also hard and it takes more time to figure the ins and outs than it really should. For players who love platformers and don't want a game to hold their hands, look no further. For those who want a simple, kid-friendly experience, this probably won't do it.

MagiCat is a fun 2D platformer on Nintendo Switch that was easy to learn and very entertaining. The gameplay mechanics make for a solid platforming experience, and there are over 60 levels to complete, each with its own boss to defeat, so there's plenty of content for you to replay as you try to find all collectibles as well as completing a stage alive and well.

Games like MagiCat are absolutely one of the things that makes covering the indie space so special. A bit cute, but generally unassuming, and extremely budget-friendly, MagiCat is a title that far exceeded my expectations for it. It’s an exceptionally tight and competently-made platformer worthy of your consideration on the Switch, especially if you enjoy quality 2D action.
