Spike Volleyball has serious problems. We've experienced bugs, graphical glitches and poor AI every single time we played. It also lacks in options, with a really poor Career Mode.

Spike Volleyball's gameplay loop isn't atrocious, but poor animations and ugly visuals demonstrate the low-budget nature of the project. With glitchy online play and a rudimentary career mode, it's extremely difficult to recommend this release – especially when you consider that it's retailing at a price point five times greater than what it realistically deserves.
If Spike Volleyball is not a very realistic simulation of volleyball, we can not say that the bet is completely missed. A game that could please the true fans of this sport...

Black Sheep Studio did a decent job with Spike Volleyball. Volleyball is a fresh genre outside of the power sports, and this game captures the power and precision of the serve. There is a multitude of statistical categories to analyze each player's ability at each position. The game also includes a variety of strategic formations to create an advantage over opposing teams. Be that as it may, the game does not do as well with gameplay that is consistently buggy after the serve.
Spike Volleyball is a great game when it comes to playing volleyball on your pc or console, but generally it's a bug fest that oversimplifies quite good sport.

So this is game that had some lofty ideas of what it could have been and delivered a broken slodge of a simulator, devoid of anything that can be considered worthy of its utterly disgraceful price-tag. It’s clear the developers did what they could with a seemingly small budget and little time but this just isn’t good enough.
I’ve heard the term ‘floater’ used in Volleyball before and well I could quite easily see that term fitting adequately here (although I’m sure in the sport it has a different meaning). There is very little here that deserves praising and the whole package feels like a rush job. For a full price title I’ve come to expect a certain level of quality and they seem to have left it in the locker room with Spike Volleyball. I’m sure it will have its fans, and after enough beer with a few friends it may be something to put on for a laugh, but other than that, my recommendation is ‘STAY AWAY’
Spike Volleyball is a broken mess. Not even ardent volleyball fans will find this adaptation worthy of admission
Spike volleyball has a solid core and some great gameplay mechanics but the whole thing is let down by poor animation and lacklustre presentation.
