Ravva and the Cyclops Curse
Critic Reviews for Ravva and the Cyclops Curse
Ravva And The Cyclops Curse is yet another reminder that an old formula can still be both fun and interesting, if the execution is up to snuff and a few bits of innovation are sprinkled in. Those who enjoy a bite-sized platforming experience should find much to like about this little indie.
Ravva and the Cyclops Curse is a throwback that successfully captures both the aesthetics and the difficulty of titles from the era. Those weaned on the more challenging titles of old will appreciate what this platformer brings to the table.
It is a well-designed retro throwback, with an interesting ability management system and some well-hidden collectibles, as well as a decent enough presentation. Considering the minuscule price tag the publisher is asking for it, you should totally grab it. It’s not amazing, but it’s well worth it nonetheless.
While I wish I was more charmed by Ravva and the Cyclops Curse, I’m still glad I played it. As a fan of pixel art and retro flair, this is a pretty satisfying game. It’s definitely challenging and occasionally unfair, but for the minimal asking price, it’s hard to say no. And though the game is very linear, I am aware of one hidden area you can discover. If you’re a fan of retro and want a new platformer, I’d check out Ravva and the Cyclops Curse. Here’s hoping the next title by Galope makes good on the promise of this game.
