Dick Wilde 2 is a fun game and not much more than that. What it lacks the complexity of other VR shooters, it makes up for it with co-op, but it's very much one of those games where once you've played one level you've played them all. It doesn't reinvent the world of shooters, but is good at the small slice it chooses to take part in.
Dick Wilde 2 is a fun rail shooter with excellent controls and a beautiful art-style. Sadly unless you are desperate to play something on PSVR, or love rail shooters, Dick Wilde 2 is regretable skippable.
If you played the first game and wished the difficulty was a little more accessible or wished you could play it with a buddy you’ll find both of those things are now possible in Dick Wilde 2. If you’ve had your fill of these wave based/shooting gallery VR titles though I’m not sure there is anything here that will get you to jump in.
With humor, stylish visuals, and solid shooting mechanics, Bolverk Games' Dick Wilde 2 is a great little VR diversion for those that dig on-rails shooters.
Dick Wilde 2 can be a very irritating game but if you're willing to stick to it, it can become a rather rewarding arcade shooter.
Dick Wilde 2 is a fun game with an arcade feel and a slightly nostalgic innocence about it which reminded me of a golden age of gaming but with a modern VR twist. I would love to score this game higher but unfortunately, it doesn’t have the depth to make it an instant classic and off the top of my head I can think of multiple on the rail VR shooters that are worlds apart from this. I award Dick Wilde 2 a Thumb Culture Silver Award.
It doesn’t push the boat out – or rather, the raft – as much as it could, but Dick Wilde 2 delivers a mild improvement over its predecessor, favouring accessibility and fun over the original’s punishing challenge.
Dick Wilde 2 is a decently made game that really does nothing new. If you enjoy these kinds of wave / rail shooters in virtual reality, odds are you will enjoy your time spent with Dick Wilde 2. However, for those looking for deeper mechanics or a more engaging story, you will likely find this to be a shallow adventure that you are done with in relatively short order. Dick Wilde 2 does what it sets out to do rather well, just set your expectations accordingly if you are looking for anything more than a goofy arcade shooter.
