Whether you are a fan of Ark, voxel-based construction games, or survival games in general, you will find something to hate about PixARK. A wild mess of a game, PixARK is one of the most off-putting experiences on PlayStation 4. Avoiding PixARK is imperative.
I understand the interest in placing a game like this on the market, but it just seems too rushed and not really necessary.
In its current state, PixARK on the Switch is a poorly optimized, unenjoyable, and otherwise weak approximation of the Minecraft experience that in no way delivers value equivalent to the money you’re paying for it.
PixARK is a very complicated game that allows almost complete freedom, but at a cost.
PixARK straddles the line between Minecraft's accessibility and ARK's genre-bending setting, bringing a sandbox of crafting fun with countless options that is hindered by clunky console interaction and menu navigation.
Overall, PixArk is a very graphically friendly version of Ark, and it is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. It is available now for $24.99 USD, which is a good price for someone that doesn't want to pay too much money for a new version of a game they already have. If you are down with pixelated Ark then go for it and spend the money. I feel it was a very fun port of a game that I spent a little bit of time with.
PixArk has got a lot of problems, and you should be aware of them- but if you are, and if you can grit your teeth and work your way through them, the final experience is oddly rewarding and engaging.
PixARK is a really poor Minecraft clone, and that's it.
