Mekabolt on the Nintendo Switch is not a life-changing experience but it is a decent and competent platformer that's accessible to younger and to less experienced players. Those looking for a more challenging experience need to set their horizons elsewhere, though, as Mekabolt doesn't stand to its highest graded peers on the Switch but anyone who's looking for a simple platformer will find a few hours of fun in this work.

Mekabolt is quite an enjoyable little game. Yes, it's simple, but there's no shame in simple if a game is fun. I just can't ignore the short length and lack of replay incentive, though. Hopefully, a feedback-shaped sequel can let Mekabolt become fully realized. Meanwhile, you'll have to decide if $4.99 is worth it for 90 minutes of entertainment on your Nintendo Switch.

This game is simple and easily kills time. There is a charm to the retro, old arcade machine gameplay. In the current landscape of visually stunning, it is nice to go back in time to videogame roots and just play a plain game with basic controls. For a break from the intensity, Mekabolt is a good breather, especially at the value of the low price it is selling for.

Since budget puzzle platforming titles have gotten to be a bit of a dime a dozen it's hard to generate a lot of enthusiasm for games the likes of Mekabolt...

In the midst of a slew of AAA games being released at the moment, sometimes a little indie platformer can be a welcome palette cleanser. Mekabolt+ certainly is that.

Mekabolt won't go down in history or memory in any way, but at least it offers a little fun to distract us if we have a little money burning in our pockets. You can see his good intentions and his attempt to create something elaborated considering the available resources and that is something to be thankful for, although of course he cannot compete in the major league.

For a $5 game on a system with plenty of better budget titles, this game isn’t a bad one, but it’s incredibly generic and very short, to the point that the platinum trophy basically gives up after the first two worlds, and doesn’t even bother to cover the entire game. You really have no reason to pick this game up unless you’re buying these cheap games for an easy platinum, which is pretty sad considering how some more complex level designs and a wider scale could lead to great potential for a sequel.

Mekabolt is generic. It's not great, but it's not terrible either. What's fun at first quickly turns into a chore.

Overall if you like retro platform puzzlers then you can’t really go too wrong at £4.99 for this especially if you are looking to boost your Gamerscore.
