Sunset Overdrive and the Mystery of the Mooil Rig! Reviews
Mystery of the Mooil Rig may end too quickly, but you'll enjoy the ride.
This first return to Sunset City succeeds as a dessert-sampler complement to Insomniac Games' 2014 hit.
There's a fair number of new features and missions here but none justify the price, and the experience will pass from your memory almost as soon as it's over.
Despite its brevity and lack of ingenuity, Sunset Overdrive and the Mystery of the Mooil Rig! is both fun and comical, providing a good excuse for a return visit to one of 2014's greatest interactive haunts.
Mystery of Mooil Rig continues Sunset Overdrive's maelstrom of colorful and chaotic action. As far as downloadable content goes, Mystery of Mooil Rig is wholly traditional - but when it's applied to a game as whimsically defiant as Sunset Overdrive, it's tough to complain.
The Mystery of Mooil Rig is fun, but a bit pointless. There's nothing truly compelling about it that would make non-expansion pass owners envious. As one of two story-based expansions, I don't know why Insomniac Games felt the need to explore this rather than offering us insight into the world after you completed the main campaign.
It's fun enough to avoid being labeled a cheap cash-in or filler content for a season pass, but only just. 'Mooil Rig' has a great level design and setup that could have been used for a lot more. If developers want us to keep opening our wallets for games after they've released, they're going to have to pack in the content and make DLC that offers something genuinely novel or substantial, not just add some polishing before slapping a price tag on it.
