Critic Reviews for Tokyo Ghoul: re Call to Exist
As a fan of anime, I can appreciate the storyline and the art panels that fall page by page during certain segments but as a gamer, I see a lot of flaws in the overall experience.
Tokyo Ghoul faithfully adapts the manga, revealing that the convoluted story makes for a fun, if barebones, game that likely won't find new fans.
Like most licensed games, enjoyment comes down to how much you like the source material. With a underwhelming story and lackluster combat, it can be a struggle for newcomers and fans alike to get into it. However, for those who really want to experience Tokyo Ghoul:re Call to Exist's story, it will have a small bit of charm. Add in a number of empty locations and bland design and it is a game that struggles to be more than an experience lifted by the source material. For some this is fine but for anyone looking for more you'll be disappointed.
To say that Tokyo Ghoul: re Call to Exist is a letdown is an understatement. This is a title poised to irritate fans, befuddle neophytes and generally just waste the time for everyone involved. This is a true throwback to ye olde days of bad cash ins. As one ages, nostalgia becomes a comfortable past time. Not in this case, though. Not in this case.
For a brawler type game, Tokyo Ghoul: re Call to Exist is okay. The controls seem pretty stiff and gameplay gets repetitive fast. It has everything a brawler normally has but doesn't bring anything unique to set itself apart.
Unfortunately, Tokyo Ghoul:re Call to Exist is suffering from the Bandai Namco curse that makes it, like many other anime-based games, no more than a mediocre experience. Bandai Namco should focus more on quality rather than quantity, so that they can become a more successful company and please anime fans. Mediocre gameplay, poor graphics, boring narrative, repetitiveness, and many other issues mean that this game can only be recommended to die-hard fans of Tokyo Ghoul

Tokyo Ghoul: re [CALL to EXIST] is one of the weakest efforts to bring a manga adaptation to a video game. It suffers from repetitive gameplay and lackluster presentation.
I genuinely feel bad for Tokyo Ghoul fans. There is a lot of potential within the franchise to provide a violent and stylish action game. The Subsistence mode especially has glimmers of potential lurking. Unfortunately, the clunky combat, shoddy presentation and bland visuals make it a chore to play.
