Critic Reviews for The Surge 2: Kraken

If you're looking for a reason to get back into The Surge 2, The Kraken is a good one. The base game has a lot of replayability because of "New Game +" mode that adds even more powerful weapons and challenges. The two put together offer a compelling experience because you can become truly unstoppable with the help of The Kraken's side quest.

The Surge 2: The Kraken offers a new area to explore, new enemies to fight, new items to find and new side-quests to complete. Sadly, the new content is not particularly meaningful, and the short length makes the DLC a worthy purchase only for those who love the main campaign.

The Kraken is an insignificant addition to The Surge 2's campaign, so only diehard fans looking for 100% completion will find anything worth their time or money.

If, like me, you love The Surge 2 and are after some additional content to draw you back into the game, you’ll enjoy your time with its Kraken expansion but will be very disappointed with its short running time.

Unfortunately, there’s a lot to try and take in with a half-baked DLC, which for what it’s worth to someone who loves a challenge, enjoyed because of the challenge. The gear itself has made tremendous improvements to my experience outside the DLC itself, forcing me to reconsider trying out a second playthrough at a later date, but the V.B.S. Krakow is only worth visiting the once, even for those hoping to really tear through its hull a few times over.

The Kraken is a short but entertaining mission that breaks up the semi-seriousness of the main game.
