Critic Reviews for Down The Rabbit Hole
Down The Rabbit Hole is a perfect example of a VR game utterly beholden to its format. It builds an incredible vision of Lewis Carroll's Wonderland, and lets you interact with it, but completely forgets to give you any reason for being there.
Down the Rabbit Hole is a very unique take on its Wonderland source material, literally sending players down a dark, diorama-filled rabbit hole. With fun puzzles and a breezy atmosphere, Down the Rabbit Hole is an amazing – if brief – good time. As much time as you have spent in Wonderland, I guarantee that you have never seen it like this.
Down the Rabbit Hole was a great surprise, it is short but very, very sweet. It controls beautifully, its incredibly well designed and everything just works very well. This is very important in VR games and this title suits VR perfectly. Its bright, colourful and not too taxing. So why don't you take a little glimpse into a land of uncanny fantasy? You will not regret it.
Down the Rabbit Hole was a delight to play, with its charming world and enjoyable gameplay mechanics making for a fun virtual reality adventure. It’s not particularly challenging and it isn’t necessarily the most original experience from a gameplay perspective, but that doesn’t stop it from being one of the more endearing escapades I’ve had with my Oculus Quest headset for some time. Just don’t expect to spend TOO long with it…
Down the Rabbit Hole is a familiar retelling of Alice in Wonderland’s tale of fantasy and intrigue, though this time in VR where you interact with the world in ‘third person god-mode’. The story starts off moving Alice through a house and searching for a key to open up a hatch in the floorboards. After you fall through the floor and down the rabbit hole, you are quickly greeted by the white rabbit. He tasks you with finding your way through to the party for the red queen and acquiring invitations along the way.
Down the Rabit Hole checks all the right magical boxes of what you are looking for from a VR adventure game. There is a unique control system, an interesting story, beautiful graphics, and truly immersive VR gameplay. The experience ends too quickly but it still is a worthwhile experience for those looking to add a beautiful and fun game to their VR collection.
