With half a dozen live service cancellations and the disastrous launch of Concord, it's hard to blame anyone for worrying where PlayStation's priorities lie this generation.
However, as reported by Push Square, Sony purports that it still sees value in single-player games and wants to advance its "position as creative leaders" in developing those experiences.
"SIE continues to define excellence in interactive storytelling and franchise building," the corporate report reads. "PlayStation's IP remains best in class for single-player games".
We've seen that mindset in action with Death Stranding 2, God of War Ragnarok, Marvel's Spider-Man, and the award-winning Astro Bot, which even took home Game of the Year at TGA 2024. And just next month, Sucker Punch is releasing Ghost of Yotei, with more single-player exclusives to follow in the coming years. But in that same report, Sony reiterated plans to expand its "user base through [...] live service video games" as well.
