Fortnite's newest game mode, Delulu, is centred around teaming up with others temporarily to get ahead but with the ultimate goal of being the sole winner of the match. It's sort of a social deduction reality show come to life, and features proximity voice chat to facilitate the impromptu teaming up of players.
The mode was originally available just for those with creator codes, i.e. content creators, streamers, journalists and so on. The content emerging from the creator-only phase of Delulu was honestly pretty entertaining, with people using proximity chat in creative ways.
However, the public were soon granted acces to the mode, and with them came the trouble. According to an update from Epic Games, "thousands" of players have already been banned for breaking the proximity chat rules in Delulu.
The rules are what you might expect from an online voice chat: no discrimination, bullying, harassment, impersonation, acting sexually and so on. According to players on social media, the mode is now full of people saying slurs and screaming children.
