Thanks to Geoff Keighley, we've spent the last couple of weeks squabbling over a statue in the Mojave, wondering what exactly The Game Awards is teasing. The Elder Scrolls 6? God of War? Diablo 4? Maybe even Half-Life 3!?
At today's ceremony, we finally got a concrete answer; as the recently uncovered trademark suggested, Larian Studios is back just two years after its award-winning hit with a brand-new Divinity game that Geoff Keighley touted is even "larger than Baldur's Gate 3".
When the trademark first came to light, Larian Studios' head of publishing, Michael 'Very AFK' Douse, slyly posted on X, "There aren't currently any plans for a new Divinity: Original Sin 3 game". In fairness, he wasn't lying; he was just sidestepping the truth.
This new entry is dropping the Original Sin subtitle (though it isn't a reboot), making the series far more approachable to all the newcomers the studio no doubt hopes to ferry from the Sword Coast to Rivellon, home to all manner of familiar critters, from dragon elves and dwarves to halflings and orcs.
