Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is becoming quite possibly the most genre-defining JRPG to release not just this decade, but possibly this millenium, depending on who you ask. It's been gradually collecting GOTY awards like nothing ever since awards season started — including our own — and has managed to rack up a whopping over 400 already. It's breathing down the neck of Elden Ring, that's how good of a game we're talking about here.
And despite us being over two weeks into 2026 now, Clair Obscur isn't slowing down when it comes to collecting honorifics, as it's on course to sweep yet another awards show. First reported by Game Developer (thanks PC Gamer), Clair Obscur has been nominated for eight out of the possible nine awards up for grabs during this year's Game Developer Choice Awards.
While it isn't guaranteed it will win any other awards, judging from how previous awards shows have gone in which Clair Obscur dominated the nominations, it'll likely pick up most of them.
