Don't Worry, Mixtape Won't Get Delisted Because Of Its Licensed Music

Mixtape may have a boatload of licensed music, but its developers have ensured that the rights are paid in "perperuity" and will never result in the game being delisted.

As those of us who have actually played Mixtape will know, one of its defining elements is the mood-fitting soundtrack that Stacey has chosen for her final night in the Big Suck. That stacked OST includes Iggy Pop, The Cure, Stan Bush, Portishead, The Smashing Pumpkins, and many more to help make sure the game's biggest moments land.

The amount of licensed music in Mixtape is seriously impressive, but it has resulted in some raising an eyebrow and worrying that the game might end up getting delisted because of it in the future. Mixtape's developers and publisher have both confirmed that isn't going to be the case, though.

Earlier this week, Kotaku shared an interview with Mixtape's creative director, Johnny Galvatron, to discuss the indie hit's development. The interview is full of interesting insights about the creation of Mixtape, but one of the most reassuring parts comes towards the end, as Kotaku asks Galvatron about fears the game might be delisted.
