You could argue that the run of games on the original PlayStation (extending to the PlayStation 2 era) is one of the best generations in gaming. Nintendo generally knocks it out of the park in most generations, but the amount of third-party support on Sony platforms, before the Xbox even existed, really tipped it over the edge in some cases.

Amid popular franchises that debuted on the original PlayStation like Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid, and Tenchu, there was also an array of oddball games on offer at any given time. Games like No One Can Stop Mr. Domino and Jumping Flash were staples on the console, though many have been lost to time, aside from the efforts of studios looking to revive them.

Speaking of classic revivals, thanks to a new announcement from Console Archives, you can enjoy a classic PlayStation 1 game on modern consoles.

Available on both PlayStation 5 and Switch 2, you can now pick up Geki-Oh ShienRyu, thanks to Hamster's Console Archives initiative. Originally conceived as "Arcade Archives" in 2014, Hamster Corporation aimed to bring classic arcade games back to current systems, kicking things off on the PlayStation 4 and Switch.
