007 First Light has just brought back James Bond in fine fashion, and it immediately raises questions about what fans can expect from the franchise next. Without spoiling anything directly, the game leaves good reason to believe that this won't be the last we see of Bond's newest incarnation.
Now, Amazon itself (the current owner of MGM and, consequently, the indirect steward of the Bond IP) has provided a key update. While Amazon didn't make 007 First Light itself, the company isn't willing to sit back and let the future of the James Bond franchise play out without its involvement.
Speaking to Polygon, Jeff Gattis, the general manager of Amazon's gaming division, clarified that sequels to 007 First Light will be more directly under Amazon's umbrella. Amazon "didn't have the full rights" to First Light, as "that IP acquisition happened after the First Light IO deal was already done." In the future, though, follow-ups will be "done by MGM and, theoretically, by Amazon Game Studios."
