God is a Geek's Reviews

Apr 12, 2017

With such a fun story, great gameplay, and the ability to enjoy with a friend or relative, you’re never short of having a good time.

9 / 10.0 - Hollow Knight
Apr 10, 2017

It’s a stunning game, majestic in art design and fluid in combat. It’s difficult at times, but the rewards for getting to the next area far outweigh the frustrations.

8 / 10.0 - Aaero
Apr 10, 2017

If you love rhythm games and bass heavy music, this is one you’re going to want to check out. The levels are gorgeous, and the gameplay is straightforward, but challenging especially towards the end.

Apr 9, 2017

The Ringed City DLC is a mixture of things, unfairly difficult in the beginning, it opens up and delivers a thematically fitting end to the series of the whole. Great boss fights as well as a new PvP mechanic elevate it above the previous DLC.

Apr 6, 2017

If you never had the privilege of playing this when it came out originally, now’s the perfect time to give it a go. It’s action-packed and smarter than it may appear, plus Duke Nukem is in it!

8 / 10.0 - 88 Heroes
Apr 5, 2017

88 Heroes is a fun, chaotic platformer where 88 is king. You have 88 minutes to complete 88 rooms, you have 88 seconds to complete each room and have an army of 88 characters to play with. With a lot of unique and funny heroes on offer, 88 Heroes is a nice bit of platforming goodness.

Apr 5, 2017

It may not hold up to the current crop of rhythm games, but there’s still lots to love about this 20-year old classic. Besides, who doesn’t appreciate a love story between a rapping dog and a sassy sunflower?

Apr 5, 2017

A Rose in the Twilight is a worthy spiritual successor to The Firefly Diary and one very intriguing puzzle platformer on its own with a unique and eerie atmosphere.

5 / 10.0 - Yooka Laylee
Apr 4, 2017

Yooka-Laylee could have been the start of a new generation of 3D platformers, but its design leaves it firmly stuck in the past.

8.5 / 10.0 - Blackwood Crossing
Apr 4, 2017

Blackwood Crossing is a surprising release, a game that delicately explores the difficult emotions of grief, guilt and love told through the eyes of two orphaned siblings.

8.5 / 10.0 - Thimbleweed Park
Apr 3, 2017

I’ve missed having a great adventure game to play, and thanks to the skilled veterans at Terrible Toybox, this one is up there as one of the best ever.

Mar 31, 2017

A decent, gritty and stylish cops-n-robbers strategy game that offers just enough variation to keep you interested.

7 / 10.0 - Yo-Kai Watch 2
Mar 31, 2017

A kids RPG that's kind of hard to hate, but the mileage may vary depending on how much said child likes to do as they're told.

8 / 10.0 - Future Unfolding
Mar 30, 2017

There is no ‘best way’ to play this, other than in a quiet room with your headphones firmly in place and nothing to distract you.

7 / 10.0 - Snake Pass
Mar 30, 2017

Snake Pass is a unique take on the classic puzzle platformer with a genuinely inventive style of movement that reinvents the genre, but a difficult camera and archaic save system takes some of the shine off.

10 / 10.0 - Persona 5
Mar 29, 2017

Persona 5 is one of the best games I have had the pleasure of playing and something that managed topping my favourite game of all time Persona 4 Golden in almost every way.

7 / 10.0 - Kona
Mar 29, 2017

It may not be the best in the genre, and it certainly has its problems, but you’re given an intriguing mystery to solve in an interesting and unique setting.

4 / 10.0 - Rain World
Mar 28, 2017

Sadly, despite its pretty aesthetic, Rain World is a confusing and sluggish platformer that failed to give me any reason for what I was doing and just left me feeling bored and bewildered.

It may not have the same levels of engagement as previous episodes, but the character development is on point, and some of the busier moments are delivered with aplomb.

5 / 10.0 - 2Dark
Mar 27, 2017

If 2Dark’s tone was in line with its subject matter, it might have been something worthy of recommendation. But its story is almost nonexistent and nothing quite works as intended.
