3.5 / 5.0 - Spacejacked
Mar 10, 2016

If nothing else, Spacejacked easily meets the most important criteria I have when reviewing games — fun. Its frantic pace, interesting take on the genre, and well-executed mechanics make for an enjoyable experience.

Distant Star: Revenant Fleet is likely not for everyone. With a difficulty that scales to the size and strength of your own fleet, it has no problem seeing your force crushed and your desperate mission ended.

With its puzzle variety, unique aesthetic, and surreal story, I struggle to find flaws in Rusty Lake Hotel’s presentation. I will say that, even as an avid fan of the genre, I did turn to the game’s offered walkthroughs for roughly two of the game’s five rooms, so those who aren’t prepared for a mental challenge may want to seek elsewhere.

1.5 / 5.0 - Broken Dreams
Feb 28, 2016

If you're a big fan of the puzzle-platformer genre and enjoy titles that focus more on artistry than content, you may find Broken Dreams to be worth your $0.99 over on Steam. Otherwise, you're likely better of saving that dollar to put towards something else and skipping the stiff story, unresponsive controls, and all-around lacking feel of this strange little adventure.

All things considered, The Walking Dead: Michonne is off to a decent start with plenty of room for improvement. Most of the new characters may feel like zombie fodder, but they've got some interesting personalities that will be fun to follow.

3.5 / 5.0 - SUPERHOT
Feb 25, 2016

SUPERHOT is a game with an amazing gameplay mechanic (time), that is also bolstered by an unusual but interesting plot and equally curious art style. Unfortunately, hit detection issues compounded with SUPERHOT's short-lived Story mode meant that once I'd given the additional modes a try, I was quite happy to put SUPERHOT down and move on.

With every iteration Fire Emblem seems to add on just enough to make it feel fresh, and Fates certainly has a host of new features. Birthright may be the best place to start out of the two versions, as it's easily accessible to anyone regardless of their experience with the series.

Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest is a must-have gem for the 3DS. While some of its battles may feel exceedingly unfair at times (thanks for one-shotting my avatar at full health with a 1% crit chance, game), the satisfaction of overcoming a tough battle is as sweet as ever.

3.5 / 5.0 - ChromaGun
Feb 25, 2016

Overall, ChromaGun is an interesting take on a genre that seems to always be brimming with fresh content. While some segments can be repetitive or frustrating, the overall experience shies away from too much rote repetition. The $14.99 price on Steam may be just a touch high for the rough 4-5 hours of gameplay, but not pushing too far given the overall quality.

To date, the Megaman Legacy Collection is the definitive way of playing the first six Megaman games. Loving attention to detail, collection of additional resources, and a challenge mode that should keep longtime players and new fans engaged for a long time.

3 / 5.0 - Far Cry Primal
Feb 22, 2016

All in all, Far Cry Primal is a great entry in the series when it comes down to gameplay alone. The refocus was necessary to rein in the series, introducing a renewed sense of helplessness with more thoughtful engagement.

3 / 5.0 - Zamarian
Feb 20, 2016

In the end, Zamarian does a fine job at being what it sets out to be. The unique perspective and gameplay are just enough to make it worth a look for genre fans, and while there's some room for improvement with regards to the interface, it's not the worst design I've seen.

While the $9.99 price on Steam may be a bit high considering the relatively short story mode, Super Galaxy Squadron EX packs in a few extras to make it worth it.

As you can probably tell by now, Garden Warfare 2 has a lot of good going for it. The studio has taken the great foundation laid out by the previous game and built something magnificent upon it.

Danganronpa is the sort of game that requires you to have a taste for the absurd, to be able to suspend your belief as you take in all of the insanity this game throws at you. Don't be turned away by its linearity, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is one of the best visual novels you'll play. And now, even PC users will be able to enjoy this crazy ride.

4.5 / 5.0 - Street Fighter V
Feb 16, 2016

Even with the lack of an Arcade mode and temporary server issues, though, Street Fighter V manages to shine. At its core, it is a top-notch fighting game with tight mechanics, crisp visuals, and a well-balanced roster.

Despite the fact that Red Game likely works better in its original mobile form, it still offers some fun. The frustration may require some patience to overcome if you want to break through all 60 of the game's artistically-presented levels, it may well still live up to the $4.

4 / 5.0 - Layers of Fear
Feb 14, 2016

Layers of Fear creates an immersive experience with its stunning graphics, engaging story, and particularly well-crafted story. While players must piece much of the game together for themselves, it's a worthwhile experience.

3 / 5.0 - Space Moth DX
Feb 14, 2016

Aside from its lack of powerups and bizarre premise, Space Moth DX is otherwise a pretty standard bullet hell game. This isn't really a negative or positive point, but should give you a pretty good idea if it's going to be worth your $7.
