7 / 10.0 - Daemon X Machina
Sep 16, 2019

If you like finding loot, building giant robots, or even if you want to chill but not totally disengage your brain, this is perfect for the job. The devil might not be in the details, but you can have a hell of a lot of fun in the cockpit.

Ni No Kuni is crafted with such care and detail that it feels as though I was playing through a Studio Ghibli movie that lasted me 30+ hours. In my mind, it is one of the most charming JRPG’s I have ever experienced.

7.5 / 10.0 - GreedFall
Sep 16, 2019

If you go in expecting a budget RPG that had some corners cut here and there, then you’ll probably find a lot to like here as well. I feel like Spiders has finally discovered their niche with GreedFall, and with some more refinement, tweaks, and added depth, I think they will eventually have a winning formula for their next game.

The game’s style is well realized, backed by a great looking, great sounding experience. Combined with a deep mystery, it is something to keep an eye on. If you like games of similar genres, or even VNs in general- we highly recommend it. Miss out? You must be dreaming.

Iga’s goal was to make a solid Metroidvania game, and he definitely achieved that in spades.

9 / 10.0 - Gears 5

Gears 5 is not just a good Gears of War title, it is a love letter to fans who have been around from the beginning with many callbacks to previous entries.

Unscored - Ion Fury
Aug 31, 2019

From its graphics to the gameplay, Ion Fury is everything I wanted and more in a bite sized 90mb download. Ion Fury does not rely on nostalgia alone and instead takes the charm of classic FPS games and pushes the boundaries of what can be done, creating a new standard for retro games going forward.

If you never played the original Grandia games, this is the best way to play them – even with a less-than-stellar graphical upgrade. It does bring you back to those long nights spent as a little kid. If you played them before, this is a great way to go on your adventure again.

8.5 / 10.0 - Astral Chain

Pick it up, kill some monsters, crack a Monster, enjoy yourself. This is a video game, and video games are meant to be fun. Mission accomplished Platinum Games.

If you’re looking to relive a classic or catch up on one of the PS1’s greatest RPGs you missed I would recommend picking up Final Fantasy VIII Remastered without a doubt.

The price tag is a little daunting, though. I can’t help but feel like $40 would be a better price, since paying a full $60 for a game you’ve already played before is a bit of a hard sell. I’d recommend waiting for a sale, though if you’re a super-fan of Catherine and want it now, don’t let me stop you.

As it stands now, Kill la Kill IF is no where near worth buying for anything nearing full price.

If you are in the market for a solid sci-fi 4X game that isn’t overly complicated and a bit more focused on combat, then you’ll find a lot to like in Age of Wonders: Planetfall. It’ll likely be my go-to game for several more months to come, even with all its flaws.

7.5 / 10.0 - Oninaki
Aug 20, 2019

Oninaki is an enjoyable RPG if you’re looking for a melodramatic hack-and-slash RPG from yesteryear, and if you properly explore its Daemon mechanics. The game may have some missteps, but I think Tokyo RPG Factory could really shine with more time and a bigger budget.

Anodyne 2: Return to Dust is a testament that indies can go where AAA fears to tread. A unique concept supported by strong gameplay that evolves frequently enough to keep you playing- right until it ends all too soon. At the bottom of it all, there is nothing quite like it.

Everything from the presentation to the sound design, from new classes to new races, is so close to perfect that any criticisms I have are nitpicks in comparison to the love and adoration I have for this game, and this expansion.

Some will love it, and some will hate it. If you are halfway between the two, I honestly feel there is more chance you will like it. Love, Hate, and Maybe. While houses are sure to be divided, two out of three ain’t bad.

While there are certain aspects that would love to see improved, I am confident that those who are even mildly interested in it will find plenty to keep them coming back.

At this point do I believe that MachineGames can make another good Wolfenstein game? Honestly, I do not know, even with the help of a talented studio like Arkane, they were up able to learn from their previous mistakes. Honestly, Wolfenstein fans deserve better than what they got here and that is saying something.
