The truth of the matter is that this game is a great look into the concept of relationships, sure there are some bizarre annoyances here and there but ultimately this is a great RPG and something every Vita owner should play at least once.
Ultimately, I think that Grand Kingdom is a game that should definitely be played by anyone who is interested in it. It’s fun, and showcases a ton of really great ideas. I can see plenty of players loving the game to death, while easily understanding any of the criticism said against the game. However, the gameplay style is a breath of fresh air in comparison to many of the games available now, and is certainly worth a shot if you’re interested. However, I’d have trouble recommending the game to someone that isn’t interested to begin with.
Just be sure to take a look at the fan-operated wiki and study up on skill stacking, because you’ll need it when your NPCs bum rush a boss without their guard up.
Over all, Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World is a game exploding with vibrant colors, great gameplay, and fun levels that’s polished to mirror-like shine. It is a perfect platformer that can be enjoyed by both new and old who want to take a break from the overly realistic worlds presented in games today. If you have a 3DS, I highly suggest you pick it up.
That’s the problem with this game, wasted potential. The combat was pretty fun after I got used to it. It made me use my head and think about my moves or be punished for them. You can also tell that this game utilizes quite a bit of research. If this attention to detail was spread to most other aspects of the game, it could have been really fun. At this point, though, I can’t say that this game is anything more than underwhelming. The graphics end up looking lazy, the communication is confusing, and things are never fully explained. It just ends up being a disappointing mess that never really improves.
Yakuza 0 is an amazing start to 2017, with great combat, an engaging story and so many activities you won’t know what to do yourself. If you’re a fan of the series, you won’t want to skip on this entry. Even if you’ve never played the series, you’d be doing yourself a disservice by not playing it. It’s a must have for people who love video games, and a great way to start the New Year.
At the end of the day, Playstation VR Worlds is great for what it is outside of the VR Luge game which can be easily passed over. Every game or experience has something unique to it, but is desperately clawing to be something more. It would have been great to see these things fleshed out, but it also shows at the early stages of Playstation VR, that it has the tools to make something great. If you have a PSVR I would say to check it out.
That being said, if you enjoy a well-written book that happens to have a few dungeons and some evenly-leveled combat thrown in every ten minutes or so, you really can’t go wrong with Obsidian’s wordy magnum opus. Just get a good pair of reading glasses first.
Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live is super disappointing. At its $40 price point there should be some real meat to experience, but it falls far beyond short. In good conscience, I can not tell you to buy this even tho it is not broken in any way. From a pure content standpoint, it does not warrant the price at all. This is a shame, because there is huge potential here, and if this fails the likelihood of a complete Miku VR experience showing up later on is likely zero.
Titanfall 2 is an amazing multiplayer gamer, and could have also been an amazing single player game. The fast paced multiplayer with a clever use of AI combatants really makes every match enjoyable, and shows that there are still legs to the FPS genre. Its just a shame they did not push for more single player missions as the world of Titanfall is one well worth exploring. Out side of save data issues, the game’s core mechanics are damn near flawless. It’s a must buy if you like giant mechs, fps, or interesting combat.
If you were a fan of the original Steins;Gate visual novel and want to continue exploring the characters and the world that it established, Steins;Gate 0 will be able to provide that need in droves.
Let it die is a game for gamers; self referential, challenging, while being extremely fair in all aspects of the gameplay. While being a free to play game, it 100% does not feel like a free to play game. With tones to explore, collect, craft, and kill, there is a whole lot of game here to be had, and the fact that it is free makes it a must download.
Redout is wonderful take on a game series that is beloved but almost forgotten in this age of hyper realism. Tight controls, smooth gameplay, fantastic music, and great overall design make this a must download for all racing game fans.
The Silver Case is a pretty interesting game to recommend. It suffers from very bad pacing and an overflow of information with the most tacked game mechanics I’ve seen a while, but at the end of the day it still has the essence of a Suda51 game. With that said, if you’re a diehard fan of his work, you’ll definitely want to check it out and see just how far he’s come over the years. If you’re a fan of visual novels I’d probably recommend familiarizing yourself with his body of work before diving in.
The prospect of all these mechanics coming together was something fresh, but it quickly turned into a long and boring grind that was 100% over inflated for no reason. The story puts the final nail of mediocrity into it’s coffin.
There is some replayability if played in groups, which makes the experience a lot better. Even with its shortcomings, and suffering from the issues that new tech normally faces, Job Simulator is cute and charming. If you are looking for something for the whole family to enjoy on Playstation VR or HTC Vive, this is most likely your best option.
This doesn’t mean that there aren’t significant issues that will upset most of our veteran gamers. Frame rate drops and the exclusion of significant features do hurt this game, but fans who have been waiting for an entry that significantly changes things up will be pleasantly surprised.
The first is an amazingly interesting world-exploration game filled with great characters, interesting concepts, with the potential to expand; or a nonsensical, linear story game that feels it does not need to explain major portions of itself and leaves the player asking themselves "Why?" constantly. The world exploration, side quests, hunts, and clever travel banter is worth the purchase but the main story is not.
You might have already guessed by reading the above, but everything works so well together it's shocking. This is one of the most polished products I have played in the last 5 years, standing out as a real labor of love.
I’ve already logged dozens and dozens of hours into the game, and I can already see myself logging in a hundred more, easily. Civilization VI is worthy of the series’ legacy, and further reestablishes the age-old “one more turn” joke.
