Even though the DLC doesn’t expand upon the main story of Bloody Chronicles, its worth playing through to hold you over until the next act or canonical side story.

6 / 10.0 - MediEvil
Mar 18, 2020

MediEvil 1998 was not perfect, and so many of its imperfections are still present in the remake. For some people, it is only the graphics that matter. This kind of shallow attempt at remaking a classic makes for an underwhelming experience.

4 / 10.0 - Rack N Ruin
Mar 16, 2020

The kind of challenge where things are so boring but you keep tuning out, defines the Rack N Ruin experience. It is not a buggy or glitchy mess, and most things work as intended. The problem with Rack N Ruin is that it sets such a low bar for itself and whoever picks it up, that it leaves no impression at all.

The heroes in these games are fun to play as because they are powerful, and being powerful is awe-inspiring. It is cathartic to cut robots in half with a laser sword, as chunky pixel art blurts out all over the floor. It is a satisfying challenge that is just not available anywhere else.

The game’s setting, presentation, and themes are also all pretty engaging. It’s just a shame that the poor English translation will often pull you out of the experience.

7.5 / 10.0 - Ultracore
Feb 10, 2020

Ultracore is a very solid 2D action game, if a bit unfair at times. Retro game enthusiasts would adore the deftly crafted pixel art ,and classic run and gun gameplay.

While it does lean a bit on the easy side, kids will love this. Kunai could easily be a defacto entry level metroidvania to introduce to children.

This sort of gameplay is much better suited for casual play on a portable gaming device during a long commute, than on a stationary game console.

Despite all its faults, I still really enjoy Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. It simply does such a good job translating the core events of Dragon Ball Z into a game that it’s impossible not to recommend it to nostalgic fans.

With a little bit of refinement, and by committing wholly to the notion of adopting a new identity, Darksiders could definitely make itself a staple of the genre.

While I would have preferred to see the franchise to return as a nice and proper sim like the old days, MechWarrior 5 still scratches my itch to stomp around the battlefields of the future in a giant robotic war machine.

6 / 10.0 - Death Stranding

In a way, I respect Kojima for coming out with something he had to know a ton of people wouldn’t like. At the end of the day, though, I just wanted to have fun playing video games, and slogging through snow for a half an hour just to deliver a jar of bugs to someone isn’t my idea of entertainment.

Older fans are catered to in tournaments and events, making it hard to claim it is “just a kid’s game.” Even as a kid’s game, one giant leap for Pokemon is one small step to the industry standard.
