Impulsegamer's Reviews

Out of the three DLC packs that have been released so far, "Ghost Recon: Breakpoint: Episode 3 – Red Patriot" has to easily be one of the best when it comes to a compelling storyline, unique missions, and co-op gameplay. The missions are of decent length and feel more enjoyable than completing hundreds of tiny missions chained together. Players will particularly enjoy testing out the new Pathfinder class when playing either solo or in a group. The unique method of accessing the classes ultimate ability helps balance out its superior destructive and tactical advantage during combat. Overall, this is a DLC players will have fun playing and replaying as they try different approaches to some of the more difficult tasks.

A tough nut to crack, but this game has great potential and some serious rewards for persistence. Play with a keyboard at hand for a more enjoyable experience.

This game has no business being on a console. A painful and abrasive gameplay experience that will disappoint most players.

If you need some escapism from COVID-19 Earth, then Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series is your elixir to freedom and is truly a fun and immersive experience on the PSVR, albeit a little repetitive at times but it's the only place to feel like a Jedi Boss!

Easy on the eyes and ears and fun to play, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a simplified title that mainly works. Its horrific paywall system, however, immediately kills much of its good will.

With this Definitive Edition, players can now play all three Mafia games together giving the player many hours inside the world these teams created. I highly recommend this game to new and older players alike.

“Borderlands 3: Psycho Krieg and the fantastic Fustercluck” may not be the longest DLC in the franchise but it still sticks true to what you’d expect for a Borderlands DLC. While the concept is very similar to past DLC’s of previous games from within the series, the underlying message about mental health, coping, the loss of a loved one, and depression make for excellent talking points between friends and families. I’m not sure if that was the original intention of the DLC but given the global pandemic we currently find ourselves in, I think it’s an appropriate method for gamers of all ages to self-reflect on how they’re holding up.

Fall Guys is addictively chaotic multiplayer mayhem, and the mid-season update delivers some great new features that add to its replayability.

Tennis World Tour 2 is sadly yet another modern tennis game that falls short. Despite bringing Big Ant over from AO Tennis 2, the game ends up burdened by poor execution and gameplay. Even at a budget price, consider holding off until future patches potentially address these also expand the legends roster.

3.1 / 5.0 - eFootball PES 2021

eFootball PES 2021 Season Update is last years game at a cut price with mostly up to date rosters. It's a beautiful game to play, marred by significant presentation issues and the lack of any killer game modes.

Overall Phoenotopia is a very beautiful looking game that does well at hiding its punishing difficulty, whilst people who are looking for a Zelda 2 style game may be attracted to this title, the more causal amongst us will find it very difficult to enjoy the later aspects of the game where in truth the game gets easier.

3.4 / 5.0 - No Straight Roads
Sep 19, 2020

No Straight Roads succeeds in blending its unique art style and wonderful soundtrack with its gameplay mechanics. However, those same mechanics often face annoying issues that can hinder the flow of combat. When it comes down to it, though, the game is still an enjoyable experience to play through, especially for fans of pretty art styles, rock, and EDM.

Make no mistake, the Tony Hawk series is back in all of its resplendent glory. It's awesome seeing the Birdman back up on his perch and coming back to these games after a decade of unworthy entries really felt like a revelation as I was immediately reminded of how much I'd been missing the series from my life.

The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon DLC is a truly enjoyable return to this franchise and given the cost, it's good value for your money. So if you have a hankering of returning to the universe of Halycon, this DLC is your panacea and is probably a nice distraction in this COVID-19 world. All in all, a well-written and carefully crafted DLC that works from the get go!

3 / 5.0 - Project CARS 3
Sep 14, 2020

In conclusion. The game lacks individual character. It gave up the charm it had worked so hard to build and tried to be too much at once. Struggling with it's own identity, its flaws shine above its own achievements. Does it want to be a sim racer? Does it want to be an arcade racer? Is it appealing to the masses? Or is it appealing to die hard fans?
