Tales from the Borderlands – Episode Four: Escape Plan Bravo may disappoint some players with its lack of in-depth story and character development. However, the episode makes up for any faults with the constant character banter and some truly emotional moments.
Airscape: The Fall of Gravity is a challenging hardcore platformer wrapped in the shell of a family friendly game. If you are a platformer fan, you cannot go wrong with giving Airscape: The Fall of Gravity a chance.
Goat Simulator should be taken for what it is: a joke. Whether it still has some appeal left in its mileage or if it has already burnt out and died is up to you to decide. Either way, you can't deny it wasn't good while it lasted.
Submerged is a flawed exploration game that relies too heavily on boring climbing mechanics and stiff animations, but its top-notch atmospheric setting and soothing, relaxing soundtrack might be enough to guarantee at least a foray into its flooded canals.
Tales from the Borderlands – Episode Three: Catch a Ride builds upon the set-up from the previous episodes and delivers a more intense atmosphere and deeper story development. Players who dislike quick-time events may get frustrated at times, but the majority give plenty of reaction time and serve to both hold attention and up the action.
Tales from the Borderlands – Episode Two: Atlas Mugged continues where the first episode left off, with a return of the fantastic humour and intriguing story line. There is a focus on conversation between characters over action, meaning that there is little plot progression, but the use of humour combined with an investment in the characters makes playing the game worthwhile.
The Swindle is a fun romp through Victorian London, and the feeling of getting away with the heists is one that never gets old, but the game is brought down by some questionable design choices and some technical issues. If it's a decent roguelike you seek, you won't regret taking a look, but if you're craving for the next Spelunky, take your thievery skills elsewhere.
Tales from the Borderlands – Episode One: Zer0 Sum does a brilliant job of drawing the player into the world of Pandora. Both fans of the franchise, and players being introduced for the first time, will appreciate the engaging characters and their story.
I can highly recommend Traverser, an extremely entertaining Indie puzzler with a lot of style.
Rocket League is a fantastic arcade game that harkens back to the era where games were supposed to be fun. It looks and plays great, and despite some rough online matches and lack of variety, it constitutes one of the best multiplayer games you can play these days
A gorgeous and high quality indie point-and-click adventure that fans of the genre must take for a spin. Anna's Quest impresses with an engaging and mysterious story-line and hours of entertaining and logical puzzles.
While the mystery and intrigue can only be obtained during the first play-through, Her Story makes use of a simplistic concept combined with FMV to create a personal and rich atmosphere.
LEGO Jurassic World is stuffed full of lightly humorous charm, and contains a wealth of content. Whether you stay long enough in the park to experience it all, however, will depend on if you can overlook its often dull puzzle gameplay and frustrating lack of polish. Nevertheless, thrashing about as dinosaurs and recreating classic Jurassic Park scenes can put a smile on any face.
Life is Strange: Chaos Theory continues the good work that the two previous instalments have set up, taking the story and gameplay to new places without forgetting the ideas that have become central to the series, even in such a short space of time. The balance of gameplay and story is arguably improving, and it no longer feels as if the narrative is the one thing subject to change.
If you are looking for an intricate clinic in the art of escape, The Escapists will have you covered but if you are a casual gamer seeking a fun time than this is probably not the title for you.
Badland offers plenty to those who seek it and therefore it is a title which is easy to recommend to anyone wielding a PS Vita in their pocket.
Splatoon is without a doubt one of the best games out there for the Wii U. The games unique paint mechanics make for great frantic, fast paced matches that anyone can get some enjoyment out of. Unfortunately it's disappointing how little content there is at launch - with only two online modes and short hero mode it leaves you wanting more. Yet the quirky nature of the game makes it highly addictive and something that'll keep you entertained for hours on end.
While many ports are simply lesser versions of what is already available, Octodad on the Vita retains what made the original releases so fun and therefore it is easy to recommend.
Magnetic: Cage Closed's multiple story branches and wildly chaotic magnetic gameplay certainly sets it apart from others in the genre. All of the puzzles follow a similar structure which can become a little repetitive, but there are occasionally some decent challenges to help keep players interested. There are a couple of gripes towards the games mechanics but the charming writing style and 9 endings give it a great depth.
A Bastard’s Tale is a great game if you’re looking for a challenge. The combat mechanics take a little getting used to but they’re really top notch and there’s a great gameplay setting to go along with it. True it’s a little on the short side and it could have done with an actual story to give an extra push through those difficult times. However the addictive gameplay and need to get just a little further will keep pulling you in every time. This is a game that’s great for killing time in short bursts and one to recommend.
