8.5 / 10.0 - Typoman: Revised
Mar 18, 2017

Typoman: Revised is a smart puzzle platformer that takes one fantastic central mechanic and delivers some amazing puzzles with it. I just wish it brought a few more.

7 / 10.0 - Nier: Automata
Mar 18, 2017

Equally fantastic and frustrating, NieR: Automata can be compelling and frantic one minute and then drag you down with annoying filler segments and a terrible open world the next. The good ultimately outweighs the bad, but I did wish a bit more was put into some elements.

5.5 / 10.0 - Super Bomberman R
Mar 16, 2017

Super Bomberman R doesn't reinvent the wheel and might be hard to recommend to most players due to a lack of value. Its greatest strength is in its local multiplayer capabilities, but a combination of finicky controls, a high price tag for the amount of content the game packs, and a mediocre online experience holds back an otherwise fun game.

Dying: Reborn VR has a few cool puzzles, but most of the puzzles are terrible and require absurd leaps in logic or for you to pixel hunt for difficult-to-see items. The rest of the game doesn't hold up at all.

Styx: Shards of Darkness will provide stealth fans with a brief thrill, but wading through levels multiple times and dealing with poor attempts at variety will grate at even the most jaded of players by the time the campaign is through.

A sometimes slow but very immersive VR game, solid storytelling drawing players in while setting up for the next adventure.

Digimon World: Next Order takes the classic V-pet formula and brings it into this century packing it with plenty of variety, a fun storyline, and plenty of interesting mechanics to discover and master.

7.5 / 10.0 - Sniper Elite 4
Mar 7, 2017

Sniper Elite 4 delivers a solid sniping experience and a lot of fun stealth moments. It has a forgettable story and a few technical quirks but succeeds in delivering all the skeletal nonsense that fans of the series have come to expect.

6.5 / 10.0 - ChronoClock
Mar 4, 2017

ChronoClock is an amusing high school rom-com visual novel elevated by well-translated writing and great art. The lack of choices make it a less engaging experience though and the removed adult content in the Steam version is unfortunate.

Human Conditions is just three more side quests and one more co-op mission for Watch Dogs 2. That's not a horrible thing: Watch Dogs 2's side quests are meaty and fun and these three are no exception. Just it's not really much to drive anyone back to the game.

2 / 10.0 - Bad Rats Show
Mar 2, 2017

It's very tempting to just throw my hands up and say "it sucks" and be done with that, as no word count can accurately describe my disdain for Bad Rats Show. It is the type of game that is a joke at its own expense; garish in presentation, mediocre in its mechanics, and worst of all, boring to play.

7 / 10.0 - Alwa's Awakening
Mar 1, 2017

Alwa's Awakening makes a number of questionable choices with its slow gameplay mechanics, but the core experience provides fun and challenging platforming and magic abilities.

Banned Footage Vol. 2 is a mixed assortment of intriguing ideas that don't pan out or leave lasting impressions. With less depth and replay value to boot, it's harder to recommend in light of its puzzling price of entry.

Amazing writing, an interesting yet gritty world to explore and a charming set of characters. All this, united with the unique set of mechanics, make Torment: Tides of Numenera a must play for most RPG fans, whether or not they've played Planescape: Torment.

9.5 / 10.0 - Night in the Woods
Feb 27, 2017

Night in the Woods is basically everything I always hope games can be. Powerful and moving with gameplay that's clever, rewarding, and unique, all wrapped up in one of my favorite presentations. Don't pass this up.

7 / 10.0 - For Honor
Feb 27, 2017

The ingredients for a great game are all there in For Honor, and many of those ingredients are put to good use. However, it is by no means a perfect game, and many of its flaws are fatal. There is an audience for For Honor, but it might be more niche than Ubisoft was expecting.

With a horrifically conflicting relationship between mechanics and narrative, Berserk and the Band of the Hawk is a great example of two great tastes that don't taste great together.

A well-written Lovecraftian adventure, where you get to experience how Tom Riddle felt being stuck in a diary in the hands of a young teenage girl. Although the player is really more of an accessory to Elena's story, their advice and guidance will still have great influence in determining her fate.

6 / 10.0 - Lifespeed

LIfespeed is a well-made game that takes advantage of the New 3DS hardware, but the lack of content really hurts it in the long run.
