Bit Cultures's Reviews
With Plague of Shadows, Yacht Club Games has proven their dedication to quality twice over. This expansion meets expectations and more. What could have been little more-or-less than a model swap turned out to be an immersive, fully fleshed out gaming experience that stands on its own two feet. Over the course of the last two weeks, I have become a Yacht Club Games fanboy, and I eagerly await the next playable character for Shovel Knight. No matter which Knight decides to follow Plague Knight's lead, I'm sure it will be the bomb…
It's an overwhelming experience with a captivating story submerged in beautiful visuals and music. It has some magical sequences and is an all-around unforgettable game. It holds moments of relaxation but also action and tension. It explores ones of the few places left on earth we still have yet to fully understand and embraces that mystery and wonder. ABZU is a reflection of what makes video games so amazing because they create places and feelings that we will never be able to experience, like the feeling of being one with the ocean.
While the game has it's flaws for someone who is a major fan of the Metal Gear lore, it is an incredible offering that gives so much power to the player and encourages creativity on how you complete the goals presented to you. There is so much attention to detail in this game and it is apparent that Kojima, along with his staff, put all of their time and effort into crafting this masterpiece.
Even with these small quibbles, I would recommend that anybody with a PS4 at least try Bloodborne. All of that difficulty and obtuseness gives a feeling of satisfaction and "I earned this" when the hurdles are finally jumped that no other AAA game comes close to. I've often thought that the Souls games are the true heirs to the Castlevania franchise; and if so, Bloodborne is it's Symphony of the Night.
Overall, even with its imperfections, Tales of Zestiria is a game that I truly loved playing. I am so happy I picked it up on a whim, and unless some super incredible RPG comes out before December ends, I can safely say this was my game of the year. For sure.
The Legacy Collection masterfully succeeds at preserving the original state of the classics. While it adds new content to the fray, it serves only to enrich the already-existing experience that fans have come to know and love. New challenges and the ability to marvel at designs and audio collections make the collection all the more worthwhile. Enjoy this healthy slice of gaming history.
None of those massive shifts in the landscape of AAA shooters would have happened without Titanfall, and it’s truly groundbreaking gameplay innovations. Titanfall 2 continues this trend of innovation by featuring a character focused single player campaign in a genre obsessed with over-the-top action, and by making really smart additions to multiplayer gameplay.
If you own a PS4 and do in fact have a queue of turn-based or action RPGs you want to get around to, then maybe Divinity deserves to jump to the front of the line. And if you are a PC gamer that owns the original version of Divinity, you should know the upgrade to this edition is free!
Since the initial release of the game, two features have been added to Hyper Light Drifter. Shortly after release, a drop in, drop out local co-op mode was added, alleviating some of the difficulty issues for players with helpful friends. Even more helpful for players who found the game too tough is the more recently added Newcomer mode which disables some achievements but gives players more health and ammo at the start of the game.
Combine that with the level of exploration, and you have something you're going to be playing for a long time. The devil is in the detail, and as soon as you boot up the game, you can clearly see the outstanding level of detail everywhere you look. I went into the game knowing almost exactly what to expect and that's what I got, plus some nice surprises. There are plenty of bugs that you can run into but from my own personal experience, they are bearable enough to not mind them too much. Think of this game as an upgrade to the Fallout series, rather than an evolution, and you'll find almost nothing wrong with it. Fallout 4 is an amazing open-world experience that every gamer needs to experience. It delivers on everything it promised and just a bit more.
It's unnecessary to beleaguer the points of what makes a Mario game great. Super Mario Maker is all about taking the classic assets, music, and experiences, and making them your own. It is extremely accessible to newcomers, and also offers quite a hefty challenge for those who can claim themselves veterans of the franchise. The title really is the gift that keeps on giving. It packs such a tremendous value that it will make purchasing feature Mario titles seem frivolous.
With this entry into The Legend of Heroes saga, Falcom created something truly special. The believability of the world and characters, the attachment to the people of the empire, and low key storyline build a memorable experience.
