Nex Machina is a stellar arcade style twin-stick shooter from Housemarquee that embraces the Bullet Hell mantra perfectly with frenetic action and precise controls. This game is just a pure blast to play, and easily a standout type of title in 2017.
"Observer is my favorite horror game of 2017 so far. It’s enthralling, disturbing, and makes you want to explore every corner of the building and scan every little thing."
This game is a pleasure to play and experience thanks to its many homages to classic games from the old school JRPG era. It's a no brainer must-play for fans of the genre.
This finale episode provides a unique spin on the creation of the Joker, while also offering up tough choices that have lasting impacts on the episode and the franchise moving forward if Telltale continues to create new Batman stories. It redeems the season as a whole, and really provided some entertaining DC Comics moments.
EB: You should play this sequel even if you missed the original thanks to its great homage to the Metroidvania genre.
Blazing Chrome completely nails its homage to the Contra franchise, so much so, that it feels like a better version of it.
The final episode of Telltale's Batman series provides a satisfying end to the five episode arc, which also proved Bruce Wayne is just as capable of being an engaging video game lead as his alter ego.
Call of Duty: WWII is a breath of fresh air for the series. Though it doesn't do anything too over the top, this title delivers. A compelling, narrative driven story spearheads the alright Multiplayer and exciting Zombies mode. A must for any FPS fan or anyone who loves a good story.
Serial Cleaner came out of left field for me. It is the first indie puzzle game to really make me love the story. I felt for the characters and their relationships. The gameplay presents challenge and diversity. The only let down was that the AI was pretty dumb when it came to finding me.
If you need a reason to buy a PSVR headset, then use Moss as that reason. It may not be perfect, but it's easily one of the best and most memorable VR experiences to date.
There are also areas of each map that have an anti-gravity zone which turns each game up to 11!
Aragami‘s gameplay and story is polished simplicity at its finest.
"Black Ops 4 is worth giving a damn about, every mode is, at worst, solid, and at best, simply an amazing experience."
If Episode 1 is of any indication, Minecraft: Story Mode is going to be a journey worth completing.
Hyper Light Drifter is the Indie game that we needed this year after a good amount of just plain old disappointing entries in the Indie scene. It's not perfect, but you WILL remember it if you play it, and if you can get past the difficulty, it'll be one of the most enjoyable experiences you play all year.
If you like artsy games that are also fun, check this game out.
Orcs Must Die Unchained truly carries the series into the right direction. With new modes, characters, traps and more, Unchained is refreshing enough as a free to play to keep me coming back.
Ultimately, however, this recent chapter rejuvenated my interest in the game's story, which is exactly what the series needed.
Certain scenes got me more emotional than I ever thought I'd be when playing Minecraft: Story Mode, and that is a mark of approval that overshadows nearly all of this episode's negative aspects.
Dishonored 2 stayed true to the franchise's roots, but this time around players can choose from two different protagonists, which offers up a ton of replayability and value for those who purchase it.
