Although I initially found the movement and aiming to be a little frustrating, the game was a heck of a lot of fun once I got used to it. There are so many different modes and arenas that we didn't find it repetitive at all and there truly is a mode that should appeal to every style of gamer.
I have to hand it to Big Bad Wolf. They know what they are doing. After having finished Episode 1 of The Council, The Mad Ones, I was left with a high anticipation for the next entry and I was not disappointed. Starting off the morning right after where we left Louis and finishing on a cliffhanger, Episode 2 picks back up and showcases that this is not simply a one trick pony.
Overall, I'd say Strange Journey Redux gets 8 pixies out of ten. It's really solid with some interesting gimmicks and solid gameplay, but it just doesn't quite have the oomph to substantially set itself apart from the crowd.
Pillars of Eternity 2 is one of the best RPGs I've gotten to play since Baldur's Gate 2. I considered ending my review right there, since it's all you need to know. If you haven't played it, what are you waiting for?
Overall though, X-Morph has a decided charm to it, and while the main alien computer things voice bothered me, the amount of enjoyment I got out of shooting up tanks and convoys with my friend in the co-op mode well more than made up for that. There was screaming and yelling, vying for turret space, and lots of cheering when we finally won.
With dozens of different selections for technology research, an interesting and almost living personality to your city, and heaps of frozen trouble, FrostPunk will challenge every fiber of your strategic being and it. is. glorious. I am not entirely sure I can adequately define the addictive brutality found in FrostPunk as it is genius in its drive to freeze you out. FrostPunk is worth your time on every level … the visceral struggle of a lost people working their way through the frozen tundra is incredibly relatable and it is terrifying.
Ultimately, Steins;Gate 0 is a novel. A rather good novel, with interesting, unique, and ironically very 'human' characters, but a novel nonetheless, so you're enjoyment will be dependant on how much you like the storyline, although I can say I really enjoyed it.
Empires Apart is a beautiful mess of a game. Designed with competitive multiplayer in mind, Empires Apart takes the fast-paced action of a professional StarCraft II match and sticks it into a graphically-stunning world that is a near-mimic of Age of Empires. Wear it falls flat though, is in the fact that if you are playing more casually, you will be destroyed, period. Speed is key and the utterly ridiculous keybindings do everything they can to prevent you from efficiently building your empire and destroying your enemies. With a little balance and far more work put into the keybindings and interface, Empires Apart could be an excellent alternative to RTS gamers that are tired of being utterly destroyed in the StarCraft II ladders.
Last Encounter is a brilliant Shoot ‘Em Up. Exordium Games have really designed a unique styled experience in a class where there’s plenty of competition. With plenty of base customization between the available pilots as well as the ships they can operate, the upgrades become the icing on the cake as you explore the space beyond the gate in hopes of perhaps finding a new start for our just about extinct species.
This is a game that comes from a franchise (sort of) that is nothing but success and potential, and from where they are right now, Lord British has nowhere to go but up. This is a title with a lot of potential that is still improving, and it’s definitely worth trying out once it is fully released.
In hindsight, it might have been easier, or at least less frustrating, to play Masters of Anima on PC, given the accuracy benefits of a mouse and keyboard. If the learning curve hadn’t been so steep, I think we would have enjoyed the challenge that so many other titles lack. If nothing else, we definitely would have progressed further in the game. This is not necessarily a reflection of the quality of the game, but rather it could be related to our familiarity with a controller because Pierre-Yves barely broke a sweat when he played.
To conclude, I found this game to be a breath of fresh air. It's intricate storyline, puzzle solving and dynamic environment kept me interested from start to finish. I give this game a 9 for it was almost a masterpiece, but hopefully in future updates they can fix those small bugs.
While like all sports, Lacrosse may not be for everyone but you should really look into it. Especially if you like Hockey. With multiple modes and solid fast paced gameplay, Casey Powell’s Lacrosse will keep you occupied for either hours at a time or simply for a few quick exhibition matches with friends before heading off to do something else for the evening.
If you feel like playing a challenging, classic dungeon-delver RPG, or simply relive the nostalgia of the original version, you should this game a try. It definitely does a great job at testing's one's abilities and critical thinking. - Mylène Verreault
While the actual move The Last Jedi was pretty divisive among fans, the Pinball FX3 - Star Wars: The Last Jedi should fare a bit better with those who enjoy Zen Studios' pinball offerings. There are two tables in this pack, and while they aren't the best tables ever released, both are enjoyable.
Dragon’s Crown Pro is a prime example of what a couch co-oped remake should be like. The amazingly designed system is just as good now as it back back in 2013 and because of the newer hardware it runs even smoother. If you already have it? It’s really up to you but fans of the title will want to see this masterpiece in its new glory. For everyone else, Dragon’s Crown Pro is exactly what a Brawler should aspire to be with plenty of customizations and amazing artwork to go with it.
A Tasty Recipe For Rogue-lite Delight ...City of Brass - a first-person rogue-lite with a vivid Arabian Nights veneer - shows that if you have an enchanting art style, enemies that are a pleasure to duel and manipulate, and a combat system that's rhythmic and versatile yet simple to execute, procedural generation can become less like a vapid maze of eyesores and more like a tool that actually contributes degrees of surprise and suspense.
Remember those weird and awkward days of trying to fit in in high school? Well, they're about to get weirder. And awkwarder. A retro style game about that crazy and scary period of time during high school, you can follow the poster child for weird and dorky, Daryl, as he tries to make sense of his teenage years. Also, dimensional rifts and brainwashing, strange creatures, and super powers.
After having recently taken Vermintide 2 for a spin during their closed beta any worries that I may have had for the newest edition were put to rest like that latest Slaven horde that came calling for our heroes' blood. Equipped once again with swords, guns, crossbows, hammers and explosives, take control of the group of five heroes as four of them head out into crazy missions with less than friendly odds of survival.
Starting off in your spaceship, you have the choice of three characters that all specialize in different stats. You have all-rounder who even starts off with a key to unlock chests, a melee based tank and a long ranged specialist. Each on top of their stats have different special abilities which allows for a bit of versatility in your choices. Personal preference will always win the day however each was well enough designed.
