Exile's End is sort of a mixed bag. Magnetic Realms nailed the retro inspiration and metroidvania format, but a few choices in the level design keep it from being something great.
Batman fans who want to try out their new VR headsets are definitely going to want to pick this one up. Unfortunately, the game lacks a lot of the hands-on mechanics fans have come to love and the game feels criminally short, especially for the price. That said, experiencing Gotham in first-person is jaw-dropping and the game features some fantastic set piece moments fans will enjoy. Do not let children watch this game. It features very dark thematic content.
Weeping Doll gives the impression of being a fear-inducing experience for the PSVR but falls short in several areas.
Alluring, but flawless game, this is not.
Batman: The Telltale Series Episode 3 is arguably the best episode of any game that Telltale has ever done and is easily the strongest episode of this particular series. Simply put, it is an experience that no true Batman fans can afford to miss out on.
Atlas Reactor has successfully blended turn-based strategy with competitive multiplayer, and in addition has great style and personality. The big question is whether we will see a dedicated fan base and have players in it for the long haul.
Infinite Warfare has a great campaign and a fun zombie mode. The multiplayer is solid, but it feels like it was lifted straight out of Black Ops III and given a new coat of paint. Fans of the franchise will find more of the same to love here but multiplayer fans looking for new flavor may look to the series' competitors this year.
Titanfall 2 improves upon the original Titanfall in nearly every way imaginable. Despite a few questionable changes to the multiplayer, Titanfall 2 easily falls into the rankings as one of the best first-person shooters of 2016.
Tethered is a solid strategy game with cute, fun aesthetics and engaging gameplay. If you're a fan of strategy or want a PSVR game with some more bite, you should definitely consider picking it up.
Some poor mechanics keep the campaign from being superb, but fans come to the series for its competitive multiplayer. Battlefield 1 is successful in turning back the clock while other franchises are aiming for the future.
Ace Banana is a fun, colorful archery game with frantic action and a ton of power-ups and enemies to keep things fresh. With the art style of a Saturday morning cartoon, things maintain a sense of whimsy amidst the chaos. The action feels great when everything's working, but the loss of controller tracking can make a round infuriating in a hurry. If you want to expand your PSVR launch library with a game you're sure to get enjoyment out of, Ace Banana is worth a look for you though.
If you own a PlayStation VR, you need to own Pixel Gear. While it lacks some of the richer features of a full-blown game like Eve: Valkyrie, it makes excellent use of the Move controller to give you a fun, vibrant shooter experience you'll want to share with your friends.
Things have risen to a new level in Hitman (2016) Episode 5, making it my favorite so far. We are finally reaching the climax of the story, and are in for a great ending to this season's events based on what is happening here.
Killer Instinct has made a triumphant return to the fighting genre in its complete state.
Champions of Canaan has a lot of new ideas to offer to the Action-RPG genre and is another title to add to a slowly growing list of "good" Christian games. While I had some issues with how the story is told throughout the game and encountered many technical issues during my play sessions I strongly recommend the game to fans of Guardians Of David. Kingdom Games is certainly on to something with this franchise and I cannot wait to see what they do next.
Gears of War 4 is a return to form for the beloved franchise. It takes everything the series has done so well over the years and adds plenty to keep things fresh without bogging down the ride.
Batman The Telltale Series Episode Two: Children Of Arkham improves greatly upon its introductory chapter.
This year, EA Tiburon has made many improvements to the on-field gameplay along with adding some new features as usual.
Hitman Episode 4 is a decent addition to the season but doesn't improve anything over the previous iterations.
ReCore is an example of a good first attempt at a new franchise that hits a few stumbling blocks along the way.
