'Darksiders III' is like a Darksiders game from another reality. It still plays like Darksiders, but it's void of the fun finesse fans have come to expect, and instead of establishing excitement for its sequel, it just makes you want to go back and play the old ones.
Cattails begs comparisons to the dearly-admired Stardew Valley, another little life-sim that explores the life of a little human farmer in a town that needs to get turned around, and it has clearly influenced the developers, husband-and-wife team Falcon Development.
'Spider-Man: Turf Wars' is a middle of the road expansion of one of the year's best games. Lacking in anything new or exciting to draw players back in, 'Turf Wars' skips the opportunity to either resolve plot points or do right by its characters.
The new catching mechanics have brought an important aspect of the Pokémon series to life, and by keeping the game generation one specific, it'll help to ease the more stubborn fans into a change that could be beneficial to future games. While apprehension is understandable, the changes are enjoyable, and the nostalgia Kanto induces ensures the games are one of the best adventures on the Nintendo Switch this year.
Despite Forgotton Anne failing to stand out in any particular area, it’s far from a bad game. At its best and worst, it’s a mediocre story game good for a few hours of playtime. If you’re a diehard fan of steampunk or visual novels, you can probably find some value in it. However, there are certainly better story-driven games to check out.
By granting unshackled freedom to experiment and get creative, Hitman 2 respects its players. With goofy dialogue and murder galore, it doesn't take itself too seriously, frequently eliciting hearty laughter through its violent absurdity and silly characters. An aura of dark comedy envelopes Hitman 2's death laden tone, and it's bloody good fun.
Bastion holds up remarkably well after all of these years, and in many ways, Bastion is a masterclass in game design.
There will likely be plenty of Human Resource Machine fans who fall in love with 7 Billion Humans, and work diligently to optimize their programs. Still, puzzle solvers who aren’t versed in these concepts may be faced with tougher roadblocks then their colleagues when trying to ascend the corporate ladder.
It's smaller and less different than you might hope, but The Heist is more Spider-Man and it's still a whole lot of fun. The addition of Black Cat lets the story make up for what the gameplay doesn't change.
Light Fall is an attractive 2D platformer with excellent narrative construction and fluid mechanics (to achieve its speedrunning design), but suffers from a few unfortunate flaws that at times do impact its gameplay experience.
Soulcalibur 6 has brought the franchise back from the brink. A little underwhelming in the story department, the game still manages to deliver a satisfying fighting game experience.
Just Shapes & Beats isn't bursting with content, but the execution, level of polish and number of options here makes it well worth picking up.
My Hero One's Justice is, at its beating heart, enjoyable. A low barrier of entry results in pick up and play fun, and there's a treasure trove of unlockables to be discovered. It's a shame then that it's marred by repetition and a spattering of niggles that dampen its quality.
Another fantastic and funny splatter-filled puzzler that offers a ton of content for players to slice and dice their way through. Though it feels like the slasher film references could have been pushed further, the core gameplay is meticulous and satisfying.
'Graceful Explosion' Machine is an enjoyable game to try, but not worth sticking around for.
Joggernauts is a fun, colorful, energetic 2D side-scrolling platformer with great style and just enough content to keep a group of players entertained. At the very least, it deserves a spot in your collection of party games.
'Valkyria Chronicles 4' improves on almost every element from previous games in the series, but it has a few hiccups in difficulty near the end of the game. The development team has definitely learned what the major issues in previous games were, but seem to have ignored some of the smaller problems the game has.
Wandersong is a charming-as-heck musical adventure that manages to live up to both parts of its name.
A new contender into the ring of cRPGs, Pathfinder fails to make as much of a dent as other recent titles have, and feels constricted by it's tabletop ruleset.
A good enough time, but one that waters down both the "Yakuza" and "Fist of the North Star" properties.
