Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is one of the best MMO expansions I've ever played. The story is incredibly good, the new jobs are ridiculously good fun, and the mechanical updates work well. The word of the First is a beautiful treat, and music is top-notch. If this sounds like your jam, you should absolutely play it.
If you have played Heavy Rain before, I haven't. So I can't quite recommend to you whether or not to purchase this game because of any differences it may have had between console and PC.
Warlocks 2 brings a beautifully crafted pixel world to life in a not so unique fashion as a RPG Platformer.
They Are Billions is a brilliant game that breaths fresh life into the RTS formula. Its setting, concept, and execution make it a wonderful addition to the genre. However, the console port with poor controls will most likely leave players frustrated and wishing they had picked it up on PC. As much as I loved the title I cannot recommend it for a console. So if you're interested in They are Billions I would strongly recommend taking a look at the PC version of this zombie survival RTS.
Lost Orbit: Terminal Velocity, a rework, and expansion of the original Lost Orbit game, is a short, but fun journey through space. The visuals and musical score are delightful, even if the voice acting and writing are hit-or-miss. Story heavy and content-lite, the game is a worth a try for those looking for a skill-based, sci-fi action-adventure, reminiscent of higher-end mobile games. Although not likely to be a long-remembered classic, Lost Orbit: Terminal Velocity is worth the time spent playing it.
While a good idea, SolSeraph just doesn’t seem to execute its ideas well enough to make it a good game. It’s a great concept but needs a bit more fleshed out.
There are times when the best thing you can do for a game is to log off and exit out.
We. The Revolution is a unique take on a historical time from the perspective of someone who has power. The game has a lot of strategies at your control as you need to decide what kind of "man" you want to be.
Overall, playing Dragon Quest Builders 2 is just as fun, if not more fun than the first one.
Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle adds so much more to the game.
Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble is an Advance War inspired turn-based tactics game. Boasting nice graphics and soundtrack, but forgettable story and poor controls. While the game has it's moments in the sun, the issues with the controls truly kill the fun for me. With a lacking story, if controls are an issue, what fun is there to be had? Then there's the ethical issues behind the company itself, but I'll leave that to you to decide.
For those that have argued that videos games are not art, I would hold Sea of Solitude up as a shining example to the contrary. There is no easy way to summarize my experience with SOS, it was incredible, challenging, insightful and memorable. Instead, I leave you with the words of Henry Miller, an American author of the twentieth century, "One's destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things."
While it doesn’t have the brand recognition of other TCGs, Faeria should absolutely occupy your top spot when searching for a TCG to play.
If you haven't played Terraria, but are looking for an entry point that marries some mobile conveniences with the console experience, Terraria on the Nintendo Switch is a great place for you to begin your journey.
Trident's Wake is a game often compared to premiere, popular top-down shooters like Helldivers, and for good reason. The gameplay is very similar in form, but Trident's Wake falters in its lack of a player base to keep the missions feeling fresh. In time, if and when the community grows, this game could potentially be a fun diversion from some of the other, well established titles. Until that time though, expect a good local co-op or solo experience.
Slender: The Arrival did manage to perform well on the switch and of course give me some truly great scares but let's be honest. The Repetitive mechanics do start to take away from the scares and morph into frustration. The concept was great and I am impressed with how far the developers went but I think a different direction would have turned the tables.
I can't shake the feeling that if Nintendo's online infrastructure was more robust, the loading minimized, and the coins were able to be earned when offline, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled would be an instant masterpiece and torch-bearer for remakes of beloved games. Sadly, it falls just short of such a title.
While gameplay on the Switch is poorly optimized, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is (to steal a Symphony of the Night meme) more than a "miserable pile of secrets." In its purest form, it is worthy of Koji Igarashi's legacy and will live on as a strong representation of the genre he helped birth. With matured mechanics with the shards system, options for varied play styles, and the edition of quests, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will join the ranks of high quality Metroidvania titles worth replaying over and over again.
As a racing simulation, F1 2019 builds the perfect balance of a real-world racing experience and cultivating a budding racing career. Learning each race and planning a strategy is as important as feeling the race first hand, and that is a major success when it comes to simulation racers. The long races may not appeal to everyone, and some of the tracks get especially monotonous, but for your moneys worth, F1 2019 is the Formula One racing game to beat.
Overall, this game is one of the more fun games that I have reviewed in the last year. I love the Gundam Wing feel to the game and how it incorporates the smaller vessels and other capital ships into the fights as well. Listed for $19.99 USD and available starting on June 27, 2019, this will be a game that you can easily get into with minimum drain on your wallet. If you are looking for a game that merges anime style characters with the heavy hitting game scene this is definitely the one for you and I highly recommend it.
