9 / 10 - Doom
May 18, 2016

DOOM is a fun, fast-paced arcadey shooter. As long as you’re not looking for a deep, serious story that reflects upon the nature of humanity and hubris, and you love fast paced games with engaging gameplay, you will really enjoy DOOM’s single player campaign. Multiplayer can hold it back depending on your orientation. Great graphics and audio really make the game shine.

Overall, The Following does a great job of not only refining the Dying Light formula, but actively building on it. The area you're given to play in is huge, the new toys are supremely fun and the changes to the enemies make them a significant, but welcome challenge.

9 / 10 - XCOM 2
Feb 15, 2016

And outstanding sequel to an outstanding game. XCOM 2 is everything an XCOM fan could want and more. If you are a fan of turn-based strategy games, this is THE must own title for 2016. A few performance issues and numerous bugs prevent it from getting the score that it truly deserves.

A unique game play experience at a more than fair price. The game runs at a smooth 60fps with no dips and features the same captivating story and gameplay that made the original release a suprise hit.

9 / 10 - Oxenfree
Mar 16, 2016

Inventive, spooky, and compelling, marred only by an overly vocal cast. The story is clever, you will want to see this to the end. Surprisingly deep mechanics, and a different take on managing NPC opinions. Overall a very logical and thoughtful game.

Dragon's Dogma has a lot of flaws, but the gameplay, sound, and exploration (especially in the endgame and optional dungeon) are simply so good. If you're into action RPGs and think you can handle the obvious flaws, you owe it to yourself to experience just how good this distinctively Japanese twist on class based ARPG combat can really be.

Emergence

Nuka-World is a delightful walk in the park and gives players a cheery sendoff to the blockbuster RPG with a brilliantly realized setting. Not as philosophically deep as Far Harbor but presents a fun story and a chance to see things from the perspective of a raider. Scarcity of new gear and ho-hum companion is offset by some fun tweaks to the settlement system.

9 / 10 - Tyranny
Nov 10, 2016

If you like a challenging RPG with a "classic" feel, and choices that actually change the quests and outcomes of the game then Tyranny is for you. For those worried that they will be forced to play as an evil character, I can confidently say there are more than enough "good" choices to satisfy you and not ruin your experience. Tyranny boldly goes where no game has successfully gone before and pulls it off in menacing fashion. At 44.99 USD, this game is a no brainer!

Be prepared to take a voyage in time and space, not only to the Ninth World countless years into the future, but also 20 years into the past, into your bedroom as a young gamer just finding your way. If you still know how to read the Numenera known as a "book", Torment: Tides of Numenera will take you places no other game has in a decade. Although the game is not overly long (about 30 hours), it is easily justified for the modest price of 44.99$.

Languard

Is this an instant classic? No, I can't go that far. There are issues with the story, with some of the level design, and with the balancing of some of the big fights. None of these are critical, game crippling issues, but they did detract from my enjoyment. However, overall I had a blast with this game. Now that I've finished the game, I plan on going through all of the Übercommander side missions, and definitely plan on coming back when the DLC content is released. It may not be classic, but it's a darn fine game and a must-buy if you're a fan of FPS games. Even if you're not a fan, I'd still say pick this up (but play through on the lower difficulty settings) because there is a lot to enjoy here. Now if you'll excuse me, I still need to introduce my rifles to some Nazis.

9 / 10 - Sundered
Jul 28, 2017

Sundered is an overall excellent entry into the Metroidvania genre and should be a strong consideration for fans of this style. The cycle of exploration devolving into button mashing (then death) could be frustrating for some, and stands as the largest blemish in the title. However, outstanding presentation and a compelling world highlight Thunder Lotus' vision. Memorable bosses and a narrative embedded in the deepest corners of the game create a very satisfying experience.

8.5 / 10.0 - Control
Aug 26, 2019

Fast-paced action tied in with an intriguing story about a secret organisation which you will need to explore and discover it's hidden secrets. Visually detailed with polished fun gameplay, combining telekinetic powers with shooter combat. A playthrough could take 10 to 15 hours or more depending on the level detail you pay. A full thumbs up for this one.

9 / 10 - Disco Elysium
Oct 14, 2019

Disco Elysium is certainly not a game for those that are faint of heart, but if you have a sense of humor, and you're looking for a breath of fresh air then Disco Elysium is a must buy game. If it doesn't make you laugh out loud a time or three, I'll ride the Cock Carousel.

A very slow start turns into a non stop thrill ride through the reimagined world of Final Fantasy VII. Fans of the franchise will feel right at home in a game that is likely to dethrone Resident Evil 2 as the reigning king of modern remakes. If it weren't for a combat system that is downright frustrating at times, it would be a must buy for nearly every RPG enthusiast. As it stands now, this is a day one buy for Final Fantasy fans, but for everyone else mileage may vary.

Nier Replicant is an endearing, comfortably predictable story that turns out to be nothing of the sort. Relaxing afternoons fishing or cultivating and action-packed dungeons coexist to deliver an ingeniously conceived narrative that will stay with you for years to come, as you try and fail to stop humming the fantastic soundtrack.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a fantastic game, and one that I couldn’t stop playing. Star Wars fans are sure to find what they’ve been craving in this must have title, unfortunately just not on PC which is marred by heavy performance issues. A day 1 buy on Xbox and Playstation, but a wait for performance fixes on PC.
