Rock of Ages II: Bigger & Boulder doesn't change much when compared to its predecessor, but at least it's still a decent title. In a way, with the amount of added content, it could've been considered an expansion pack of the original game, full of humor but bogged down a little with its very repetitive gameplay.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice manages to immerse its players in a scary and dangerous world, and it manages to effectively put them in the shoes of its troubled protagonist. The game has some great action, but its story makes it a gripping adventure that has a surprisingly accurate take on mental illness
White Day: A Labyrinth Named School offers gamers an updated version of a Korean survival horror classic. The jumpscares can be a little hackneyed, and the plot a little clichéd, but the game offers a surprisingly deep and unsettling experience to those who are patient and willing to deal with the occasional bug.
Nidhogg 2 offers plenty of new content for fans of the original, and while its new art style isn’t for everyone, the game manages to build on the original’s level design and make for much more challenging melees that test your reflexes and friendships.
Yakuza Kiwami is everything a proper remaster should be. Instead of just plainly expanding ratios, this 10th anniversary version of the adventures of Kazuma Kiryu is a success in every aspect, with a complete rework visual and audio, new activities and minigames, a modernized combat system and more than 30 minutes of new cinematic features, Yakuza Kiwami is what other publishers should follow when trying to revive their old icons.
Whether you are a veteran RPG gamer or just someone trying it out for the first time, do not expect Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition to be that perfect experience for the genre. However rest assured that you will have a lot of fun exploring the beautiful world that is in front of you along with a beautifully written story. It is a great adventure rich with ideas.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is the kind of exclusive the Nintendo Switch deserves. Gorgeous, simple to learn, yet difficult to master, this collaboration between Ubisoft and Nintendo is a work of art that nobody should miss on the Nintendo's latest console.
Orcs Must Die! Unchained cleverly mixes action and strategy gaming to create a fun and light-hearted horde defense game. Its F2P implementation is subtle and works well, and the game is a great way to whittle away a few hours where you feel like killing something.
Too proud to be called an expansion pack of Uncharted 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a pretty decent adventure and addition to the franchise, with a believable duo of protagonists. Welcoming new ideas, such as more open world areas concealing lots of secrets, or a freedom of approach now generalized to almost all hostile areas, one will regret a sense of deja-vu in some action sequences, same bugs from the previous games, but nevertheless is still a great game, especially if you're hungry for more since Uncharted 4.
If you played the first compilation, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 brings no surprises and that's great. This collection includes Mega Man 7 to 10, catering obviously to fans of the blue robot, with added challenges but might be too difficult for newcomers.
Phantom Trigger is a nice surprise, and it's nice to have this style of play on a Nintendo Switch. Might not be perfect, but with that easy price tag, it's worth the try.
Although not perfect, Severed is an enchanting title, an amazing, merge between a Metroidvania and a good old traditional Dungeon-RPG. Behind its minimalist aspect hides an original title, with a great soundtrack that makes you forget the game’s flaws.
Theseus has some interesting ideas, and it manages to create an immersive atmosphere, but it doesn’t flesh out its concepts enough to create a full-fledged VR adventure title. It feels like it has some great ideas but it doesn’t explore them as much as it could have
While some difficulty spikes make it frustrating, Sundered is a capable action metroidvania that deserves a look simply based on its incredible world. Lots of indie games try and create a bleak, desolate world that you need to sift through the ruins of, but Sundered creates surreal and often disturbing sights with real talent, and it’s a world you won’t soon forget
DeadCore is a great FPS platformer, perfectly created for speedruners, but also fans of Valve's Portal series and similar puzzle games. Pick it up now on console or PC at a cheap price.
If you're a fan of the old retro Namco Bandai games, or are too young to have even played these games, then Namco Museum is for you. With 11 games, and an affordable price, on top of the portability of the Nintendo Switch, this compilation is a great way to relax alone or play with friends.
For once, Square Enix did not do a lazy remaster with Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. Those who have already played the game will discover almost a different Ivalice filled with a reworked musical themes and a more sustained rhythm of play.
Supergiant Games delivers another unique, memorable title with Pyre. It manages to work on two totally separate levels, presenting a beautifully drawn fantasy virtual novel and a surprisingly complex twist on the classic game of football. Its story can be a little slow and a little bizarre, but it ends up having a lot of charm, and its core game is likely to become a local multiplayer classic
SUPERHOT VR is a totally new VR experience for the SUPERHOT world, and it’s amazingly well crafted. While the controls on PSVR can be a bit wonky, you’ll surely feel like you’re an action hero pulling off elaborate combos frame by frame. It’s not that long, but it has enough content to make for a really fun VR experience.
The experience was very well thought of, and Antihero is one of the few indie games that I see myself returning to play day after day. I only wish they can add 3 or 4 more players and have bigger maps as the chaos will be entertaining. Despite certain bugs, I highly recommend everyone to play the game at least once, it is something rare and a true hidden gem yet to be discovered.
