The numerous issues with The Church in the Darkness aren’t gamebreaking, but given how plentiful the problems are, you’ll struggle to extract any fun from the experience.
All things considered, Deep Sky Derelicts is a perfectly serviceable card-based RPG. However, those looking for another Slay the Spire phenomenon may be disappointed.
If the formula of the first game didn’t appeal to you then nothing that Dragon Quest Builders 2 does will change your mind, the game is in every respect better than its predecessor, but doesn’t change its form in any way to appease those scorned by it before.
“A satisfying bit of bone crunching fun, Redeemer brings some much welcomed innovation to a sometimes stale genre. A short run-time and a few technical hiccups are the only things holding the game back from greatness.”
Fantasy Strike manages to be accessible and rewarding to the fighting game veteran. Its simplified controls may mean that the game feels repetitive in the long run, but as it stands this is a great game that genre fans shouldn't overlook.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night’s excels with its art and design, and once it’s up to speed, offers some wonderfully enjoyable platforming action. But its slow start will inevitably push some players away.
And as for Conan Unconquered? It’s passable. A pastiche. A painting of a game that lacks all the vim and vigour in the brushstrokes that may have offered some semblance of excitement or, heaven forbid, enough enthusiasm to bring Conan himself back to life.
With Cricket ’19, Big Ant has once again released a high-quality cricket title that is likely to keep fans invested until the next version. Sadly it is held back by a lack of polish in areas that have always shown a lack of polish, so the hope for these problems ever being fixed is fading. But that being said this is a great game and well worth your time with improvements both big and small over the previous version.
My Friend Pedro excels at making you feel extremely good at being violent. Its slow-mo gunplay is among the best in any game. However, the disappointing delivery of its utterly bananas premise and a lack of variety dulls the thrill during longer play sessions.
The latest iteration of the Everybody’s Golf franchise is a prime case of quality over quantity. What is there is excellent, but what isn’t, could have elevated this game, and potentially even the franchise, to higher levels than it has ever previously reached.
Unfortunately what I got was a bit of hit and miss, where some aspects of the game are great, some are not so great and others just left me scratching my head. Let me just say that PixArk has the potential to be a great game, it just needs a bit more time in the oven.
If you’re absolutely over Diablo 3 but still hankering for some fantasy action, then Chaosbane will more than happily scratch that itch. Even as I started to tire of certain aspects, I found it hard to put down. Indeed, my coffee went cold several times, which is as good an endorsement as I can probably give!
Unless you’re nitpicking, there’s nothing notably wrong with Team Sonic Racing, it’s totally serviceable and, yes, again, fun. There’s just nothing wildly exciting about it, either.
When everything clicks, Rage 2 is a crazy fun ride that manages to get the heart pumping with bloodlust. I just wish that the open world was more compelling
It may not be the prettiest way to play Saints Row but it’s hard to care about the technical nitty-gritty. This is a fun, engaging port that will offer many hours of open world shenanigans.
This is a game that burrows under your skin, seeps into your mind and won’t leave you until the final credits roll. Frankly, any adventure gamer out there shouldn’t hesitate to buy this game, it is wonderful.
Grounded in the limbo between reality and fantasy, Close to the Sun is an intriguing, and at times terrifying, walk through a world where Nikola Tesla’s ideas and nightmares came to life.
Mindless fun worthy of getting the squad back together
Despite a few issues regarding in-game currency and unlockables, MK11 is the best the franchise has ever been. Fans of one-on-one fighters and/or over-the-top gore shouldn’t hesitate to buy
Phoenix Wright Trilogy showcases three of the most accessible and fun visual novels available. Featuring witty writing and a delightful cast of characters, the Ace Attorney series captures a great blend of light and dark shades in its storytelling.
