The best way to look at One Piece World Seekeris that it's an anime game that is trying to be slightly better than the usual anime game. In this aspect the game succeeds, it just comes at a hefty price. Nice visuals and a new story don't completely make up for lackluster combat and empty world, but they do help. So, if you just want a fairly easy open world game set in the world of One Piece, then this should meet your expectations. But, if you want deep or complicated journey through the world of One Piece, you might want to keep looking.
Left Alive is surprisingly simple, yet somehow manages to get so much wrong.
Between a well-written story, one that ends on a shocking revelation, to interesting characters and everything else, especially the combat, Devil May Cry 5 is the total package and a must for hack-and-slash fans.
The Occupation could, should and would be easily a gaming experience to recommend. Alas, the experience is tarnished with not just little, forgettable or mildly acceptable, bugs.
The Caligula Effect: Overdose is pretty much the same game, just with more content and fewer technical issues.
Dead or Alive 6 manages to deliver in almost every category you could want. Even if the story isn't that exciting, it's fantastic to look at and some of the characters are a lot of fun to see interact with the world around them. Single players have plenty to see, with online being a little lackluster. Combine this with a fair amount of costumes, thrilling visuals and fantastic mechanics and it makes for an experience worth trying.
Overall, Trials Rising doesn't change too much of its formula, but this is a good thing because the Trials series has always been challenging and addictive. The new Tandem Bike mode is full of fun, but the single player mode might upset some fans due to its new progression system. Other than that, most Trials fans will love this new entry and what it has to offer.
Comparison aside, Anthem can be a fairly chilled game to play with friends, despite explosions big enough to fill screens, and this is 100% the way to play the game. The constant challenges to defend areas or collects things are made less of a chore with a competent ally. Also, having a friend to cooperatively combo with helps push all of the over the top fun to the surface. The niggles are still there and present but it is much easier to forgive when not solo. With all the glorious map there to fly around, the vast ways to cause explosions and cooperative play, Anthem is well worth playing, especially once the roadmapped content starts to come online.
For the most part, The Crucible does what is expected. You fight enemies, clear waves and at the end there is a special fight. It might not offer much in terms of variety or even for anyone looking for a new experience but it's fun enough to offer players some value. So, if you wanted a reason to return to Darksiders III, The Crucible is as good as any.
As cute as RemiLore: Lost Girl in the Lands of Lore might look, there is literally nothing else redeeming about it. Not only is the story forgettable, it has so little going on it might be better to have nothing. From there, even though you have over 200 weapons to choose from, most are worthless and even a bad weapon with good magic is enough to beat the game. Add in one of the most frustrating grading systems I've seen, a pointless cash system, paper thin gameplay and you have an experience that I'd be hard press to recommend to anyone.
There isn't really much to say about The King's Bird. It's a simple looking game that comes down to using the world around you to propel yourself forward. At times this can be fun and other times extremely frustrating. When push comes to shove, it's good enough that I can see the value in it and has more than enough to keep someone interested, especially if they want to improve on previous runs.
Far Cry New Dawn offers a solid gaming experience, full of vivid slightly familiar landscapes, a fun range of weapons and an appropriately crazy pair of sisters to go up against. Hours of entertainment are packed in whether you've visited Hope County before the nukes went off or not, with the easter eggs really great touches for fans of the series. However, New Dawn and the transformation of Hope County offered more hope on what the game could be. More could have been changed and surprisingly, given the epic craziness that was Blood Dragon, the insane dial hasn't been cranked up enough.
The hard thing about The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is I enjoyed the story and found the ending charming, something that also holds true for the graphics, there just isn't a lot of content. Without using any guide I managed to platinum it in under five hours and could've likely done it even faster if I did. When you figure the experience isn't quite as engaging as previous titles and there simply isn't a ton of content or even the fact cut scenes seem to be unskippable, even if you previously watched them, it's hard to recommend The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince.
God Eater 3 might not be perfect but it's a lot of fun. The new gameplay mechanics make for a faster experience, something that works really well in this world, along with enough depth to keep players interested. By retaining some key elements, such as guns, power ups from enemies, online multiplayer and crafting, there is more than enough to keep most people interested for a fair amount of time. When you consider there is also a rather interesting, albeit anime-esque, storyline, it makes for a fine adventure. Sure, it isn't perfect or going to beat Monster Hunter: World but there is more than enough to have fun or join others in overcoming some obstacles.
Death end re;Quest tries to be more than the sum of its parts, yet fails to achieve it. The story could've been interesting with less mystery or at least thrilling if it had a large enough budget to give some of the dead ends/deaths animations/scenes. Sure, several people probably don't want to see a cut girl sliced in half or killed a number of ways but anything is better than just explaining how they die a multitude of times. Combine this with an extremely linear world and relatively bland combat and you have something that just doesn't stand out in any way.
All in all, Resident Evil 2 is an excellent remake that modernizes the classic 1998 video game and makes it playable by today's standards. Not only does the game pay homage to the original game, but it also offers something fresh for both new and old fans of the franchise. This is easily an early 2019 ‘Game of the Year' candidate.
Regardless of the issues, it's still too early to say whether or not this arc will pay off. Right now it feels like the story has a firm grasp on the concepts they want to touch on, but they don't know how to tell a narrative that fits it. It's clear the next episode will deal with Cassidy the drifter and we will likely meet their mother at some point, but right now the story is spinning wheels. It will be interesting to see if the climax gives us the ability to see two radically different endings or possibly the most common outcome leading to the future franchise canon but we will have to see where the rails take us.
Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal isn't perfect, nor were either of the previous versions, but it is fun in a mindless way. Sure, it doesn't have anywhere near the same options of your standard Dynasty Warriors game, though there is enough to have fun. Add in a cute story, cuter girls and tons of costumes to play around with and it makes for an okay experience. So, if you enjoy the Senran series or want to see where it all began, this is a fantastic choice, though if you want something a little more complicated, I'd wait for something else.
As a whole, the remaster of Onimusha: Warlords is a mixed bag for me. The graphics still look pretty outdated and the fixed camera is a huge annoyance. That being said, it's nice to revisit old games like this because developers don't really make games like this nowadays. It's worth playing since it only costs $19.99, although some people may find the game to be short as most player will complete it in around 4 hours…
Overall, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes relies way too much on meta humor and very bland gameplay. Fans will likely have a lot of fun, enjoy where the story goes and like the overall experience, where as action or more hardcore players will likely find the shallow gameplay boring. More often than not, since the experience is more repetition than anything else, it doesn't take long to get bored and want to move onto other things. And, even if the games are different, it doesn't lead to the most satisfying of places.
