Pure Nintendo's Reviews

3 / 10.0 - X-Morph: Defense
Mar 11, 2019

With little replay value incentives and a campaign that lacks the qualities which make for a compelling experience, it is very hard to recommend this game even with its lower price tag.

With its methodical, unforgiving gameplay, Aragami: Shadow Edition is not for everyone. However, it doesn't try to be. It's aimed squarely at the Tenchu crowd, with whom it should be a hit. If you're a younger gamer who's never tried a true stealth game, Aragami is a great place to start.

7.5 / 10.0 - Cinders
Mar 6, 2019

Cinders breathes new life into a tired fairytale in a way that is smart, dark and funny.

I do wish the time-honored gameplay was offset a bit more by balanced, polished, and tighter design at times. But if you're "ready for a blast of funky nostalgia" the sense of déja vu that comes from familiar fun won't be a negative. For the unacquainted, the co-creator, designer, and studio head Greg Johnson worked on Star Control II – if that's not a selling point, what is? Concerning ToeJam & Earl, I can say the series, and Back in the Groove! especially, has a style all its own. There isn't anything quite like it.

5 / 10.0 - Pet Care
Mar 5, 2019

Pet Care is, of course, an inexpensive game intended as a diversion for small children. In the spirit of research, I gave the game to my 4-year-old godchild, who played it intently for a few minutes, and rewarded it with "okay," then going back to watching my very real pet rabbit eat a handful of cilantro (not present in the game).

RemiLore is a fast-paced satisfying rogue-lite game with randomized level maps, fun hack-and-slash moves, and smooth controls. If the save mechanic was better, this would be a top-notch game.

Swords and Soldiers live up to being a very funny RTS game. It also does a great job of keeping the game fresh. Players who have not played the game certainly should give this game a try. If you experienced it on the 3DS, do yourself a favor and give it another try. Swords and Soldiers was a very good experience and well worth your time.

8.5 / 10.0 - Downwell
Mar 1, 2019

Downwell is fun, addictive and visually distinct vertically scrolling shooter/platformer. It's tough enough to challenge you without being too frustrating, and will scratch that retro platforming itch in a whole new way. Check it out.

While many other puzzle games from that time have been forgotten, Puzzle Bobble 2 has endured. The series has a wider appeal than other games that challenged it.

“The Shrouded Isle” keeps its grit through replay-ability, due to its random regeneration of NPC sinners, requests from the mighty Chernobog, and random events threatening the cult from the inside-out.

3 / 10.0 - Access Denied
Feb 28, 2019

Overall, Access Denied was disappointing to me as I expected more puzzles, a plot to serve as a backdrop to give the initiative to solve the boxes, and smoother controls.

9 / 10.0 - Tetris 99

Tetris 99 takes the fun of Vs. Tetris to the extreme with amazing results. A must-have game!

It's nothing special to look at on the Switch, and its appeal is likely limited. Still, Ping Pong Trick Shot EVOLUTION, concerns and all, does what it sets out to do, making for an unspectacular yet solid entry in the series. If you enjoyed the prior games, you'll enjoy this one.

8 / 10.0 - My Memory of Us
Feb 26, 2019

If you're looking for a good puzzle\platformer on your Nintendo Switch, My Memory of Us is definitely one you'll want to add to your wish list. Even though it's a little on the short side the gameplay is fun, the characters are memorable, and the story has meaning. This is also an appropriate gaming experience for gamers of all ages.

7 / 10.0 - Heroes Trial
Feb 25, 2019

Heroes Trials is a fun, fast-paced RPG. Being able to change between two characters on a whim adds a lot of depth to the gameplay as you go through various dungeons solving puzzles and racing against the clock.

5 / 10.0 - Guess the Word
Feb 25, 2019

Guess the Word is a one-trick pony, with no bells or whistles nor any reason to keep playing after the first round. It's squarely targeted at younger kids, but the difficulty levels aren't right either. Steer clear unless you insist on using your Switch to spell random words.

6 / 10.0 - Pang Adventures
Feb 22, 2019

I haven't much cared for Pang Adventures when playing alone, so I can only recommend it for co-op play.  Even then, I'd wait for a sale to bring the game in line closer to what you'd pay on PC or mobile. The game is okay, subpar looks and all, but as a Switch port, it is vanilla.

6.5 / 10.0 - Avenger Bird
Feb 22, 2019

It won't ever be known for its depth of plot or skill, but Avenger Bird is a fair enough game that adds a touch of nostalgia to the basic platformer structure.

6 / 10.0 - Stunt Kite Party
Feb 22, 2019

Overall, Stunt Kite Party is a very polished looking title but with a bit of an underwhelming premise to it. There isn't a whole lot you can do with kites and they did the best they could do with the concept, but I just feel like, in the end, this game left me empty.

The HD port to the Nintendo Switch certainly was a great idea to move, it would be great to see more Gunman Clive games in the future.
