Sonic Superstars is simply another good Sonic title to add to the franchise, and while it may not be among the best in the series, it is a fun little time to be had. The multiplayer focus hurts the solo experience a bit but makes it a fun game for a party. The new powerups aren’t a necessary addition but are welcome to spice things up in a similar fashion to the wisps did in Sonic Colors. The return of Fang and the addition of Trip are nice but simply feel like additions to make more merchandise or are introduced for them to be filler characters in something like Sonic and Mario at the Olympic Games.
Agatha Christie - Murder on the Orient Express has an excellent mystery to be solved. The story is quirky and fun, with many gameplay elements that support this. There are some bits that need a little polish and some moments that bring any momentum to a grinding halt. There is enough fun between these moments to justify playing the game in its full and collecting all the golden moustaches is definitely an added bonus to this charming little mystery thriller.
Lords of the Fallen is a brilliant Souls-like and a great successor to the previous attempt, even though it has a few drawbacks. Between the story and the visuals, you’ll find yourself losing hours (or even days) just exploring the worlds of Axium and Umbral, but you might also end up putting the game aside due to how unforgiving it can be. All the game really needs is just a bit of cleanup on resolution scaling and some minor quality-of-life fixes for it to really shine.
Total War: PHARAOH just doesn't impress as much as it should have. The flaw lies only with the magnitude and scope of the game and not with the game's choice of a Bronze Age or ancient Near Eastern setting. The game's atmosphere is what you'll remember most. Still, its mechanics are shallow, the level of replayability is low, the artificial intelligence is useless, and there's no opportunity for strategy in the fights. If a top-notch total war game is what you seek, you've come to the wrong place.
Counter-Strike 2 might have gotten the Overwatch treatment with a rebrand, but there are a few differences to be spotted. With a bigger selection of maps and the extra game modes, things might actually start looking up for this release. However, the lack of moderation and optimization might also be what puts the final nails in this game’s coffin.
Forza Motorsport is a fantastic racing game that delivers a satisfying experience. While that may be the case, the driving experience is nothing like a simulator. If you have an Xbox One X or S, you'll get a satisfying sense of weight and stability when navigating racing cars. You'll be startled by the disparate visual standards; newer cars have sharper detailing than older ones. However, rear-wheel drive street cars have certain odd quirks. Although a steering wheel add-on is supported, we recommend using a gamepad for the optimal experience. If you like competitions, you'll love the format of practicing and then qualifying for the event. You can choose the fastest three laps to use in a given race with the latter. It's unclear if this will get enough interest to support a healthy multiplayer scene. Forza Motorsport is a must-have for any Xbox owner when it comes to improving your online driving skills.
Assassin's Creed Mirage strikes the ideal balance between nostalgia and innovation. It is a mix of its root formula of the original games and the glimpses at the upcoming releases. The heightened importance of stealth will inspire you to become more immersed in your surroundings. At the same time, the reduced number of equipment possibilities and the game's decreased length will guarantee that Basim does not outstay his welcome. Hopefully, Ubisoft will appreciate Mirage's distinct approach while simultaneously working on numerous Assassin's Creed projects.
It's no exaggeration to say that the addition of Separate Ways to the Resident Evil 4 Remake was one of the best decisions CAPCOM could have made. The gameplay is just as much fun, hard, and intense as it was in the original game. The DLC continues in the same vein of suspenseful action horror as the main game and does a fine job. Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways fills up several plot holes that were present during Leon's campaign.
Knight Vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur has quite a few flaws and needs some serious polish to be classified as a good Roguelike. The biggest flaw at hand is the seemingly endless grind for almost no reward in the early stages and the game’s desperate need for some quality-of-life fixes, all this aside, you’ll be treated to a strange and intriguing story that will have you coming back for more. Sadly, the game needs more polish to make it worthwhile to keep coming back to the story just for the sake of seeing what happens to Camelot in the end.
Mortal Kombat 1 has seen vast improvements and brings a lot of new features to the table, even though some aren’t entirely necessary. The Story Mode alone brings a whole new beginning for Mortal Kombat as a whole and opens up endless new possibilities for the franchise to grow and expand upon. While there are a few minor drawbacks, like the complexity of Kameos and the strange turn brought in with Invasions, the biggest flop is how online play is handled. Though Story Mode and the visual side of Mortal Kombat 1 more than make up for a good majority of the flaws.
Warstride Challenges is a neat, solid, and somewhat missable FPS title with varying degrees of difficulty and complexity. Bunnyhopping and strafing are a must; if those are your fortes, give the game a shot. But do not expect the game to be supported for a long while, as the content is super niche, and it is better to just go for a bunnyhop map in Counter-Strike: Source, to be honest.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is undeniably a must-have. There's so much extra there with this absolutely worthwhile DLC. Simply put, different characters, various places, and different kinds of adventures. It's like the main game's endings but with greater variety. The time investment is well justified by the increased level cap, the additional cyberware, and the interesting new story.
Avatar: The Last Airbender - Quest For Balance is, unfortunately, lacking in some aspects and overdone in others. The story is mostly based on the original, and adding in extra events is a nice touch, but simply narrating it instead of showing it didn’t help the low-quality storytelling at all. The combat system needs a lot more polish, and the lack of camera controls that effectively force it to be more like a side-scroller instead makes it difficult to enjoy the game for what it is.
With five to seven hours worth of gameplay, two endings, a gorgeous art direction, and plenty of brain-busting puzzles to satisfy those craving a challenge, you are easily getting your money’s worth with Ugly. If or when Team Ugly decides to patch the Nintendo Switch version to fix this huge bug, the score will change to reflect that. Only time will tell for now. It is a must-play, but hold out for that update so that you can actually see the game through to the end.
SUPER BOMBERMAN R 2 is a great reboot of a classic game we all know and love. With the same level of great storytelling and chaos, you’ll be thrown head-first into nostalgia while getting to play an old classic on modern terms. When you’re tired of Story Mode, there’s always some good and friendly fun with friends or through matchmaking if you want an interesting challenge as well.
Lies of P's storytelling is top-notch, with engaging stories and challenging character missions that immerse you in its universe. The Bloodborne-inspired fighting system is a highlight, rewarding an offensive approach to gameplay with a variety of exciting attacks. The game's story, setting, and mechanics are as impressive as anything else FromSoftware has made. Lies of P has quickly become one of our top picks by borrowing so many fantastic features from other games in the Souls-like genre.
Hauma – A Detective Noir Story is a unique and refreshing visual novel that doesn’t follow the normal formula for its genre. With a rich story and a mystery that’ll have you scratching your head, these are perfectly paired with the comic book art style to create a game that you’ll have a hard time putting down. On a more fun note, there might only be one neo-nazi in the game, but you’d be surprised how fun it can be to annoy him to the point of exploding.
Smurfs Kart had a lot of potential to be great if there was a story or even just a bit more of the usual Kart Racer madness added in. It has a few fun and redeeming qualities, like the unique powerups and unique track designs, but Smurfs Kart comes off as a more generic Kart Racer that would’ve been great during the movie releases. It’ll need a lot more substance to gain good traction on the wild roads of gaming.
Although NBA 2K24 may be a slam dunk in many respects, it is not a radical departure from its predecessor, NBA 2K23, in terms of the overall gameplay experience. The same NBA teams will be featured in the game, and the gameplay will not undergo any significant changes. It is safe to assume that if you are a fan of the franchise, you will find a lot to appreciate here. There is a lot to love about this installment. The inclusion of Pro Play Mamba moments, along with the ongoing development of my career, contribute to the fascinating nature of the title.
Boti: Byteland Overclocked isn’t a massive grand adventure but a short and sweet romp through more concise levels. You should treat it more like the 3D stages of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time than an open sprawl like Super Mario Odyssey. Unlike those single-player games, Boti: Byteland Overclocked is very much balanced around two-player functionality.
