SEGA AGES Puyo Puyo 2 is a fun time. The challenging but fair gameplay brought much enjoyment during my time with it.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a vast improvement when comparing to its predecessors; with impeccable detail (like kneecaps!) and beautifully integrated new features, it offers a charming experience. Veterans and newcomers alike can experience a moment of escapism, being whisked away to a faraway island for relaxation.

While Final Fantasy VII Remake isn’t a direct translation of the original, it does an astounding job recreating the experience from the ground up. The music, the characters, and the attention to detail just sucks you into Midgar like never before. Add on the additional story elements and fantastic combat, and you have a real winner here.

As long as Capcom addresses fan feedback, this could be a game that will have people playing for a long time. Being a part of the Resident Evil 3 package makes it even sweeter. If you’re a fan of games like Dead by Daylight or Friday the 13th: The Game, then this is worth checking out.

6.5 / 10.0 - MLB The Show 20
Apr 7, 2020

As said before, as a standalone experience, MLB The Show 20 is fine. However, as part of an annual series, it falls short from hitting a home run.

8.5 / 10.0 - Resident Evil 3
Apr 7, 2020

Even though it’s definitely a different experience from RE2, Resident Evil 3 feels like a healthy mix of old and new. While it shifts focus from horror to action, it still delivers a short but sweet experience.

9.5 / 10.0 - DOOM Eternal
Apr 7, 2020

Doom Eternal is an intense journey. The smart changes to the combat, new emphasis on exploration, bombastic new toys to play around with, and overall beautiful sheen of bloody paint make it a marvel to behold. When Doom (2016) originally came out, it was heralded as one of the best first person shooters in the last decade. And yet Eternal tops it in every single way.

Playing The Foundation gives me a lot of hope for the next expansion. If the Alan Wake connection is really going grow deeper, then it’s something I really look forward to. Hopefully I can keep my expectations in check, but I’m confident that Remedy can handle this. The Foundation makes that clear to me, and if the next expansion is even remotely as good as this one, fans have a lot to look forward to. This is an awesome expansion for anyone that enjoyed the original game, and it’s well worth checking out.

SEGA AGES Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a major blast from the past. It looks and plays great, and it’s the right kind of way to release a new port. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is just as enjoyable now as it was nearly thirty years ago when it was originally released.

While it’s definitely a casual anime arena fighter, there are definitely worse examples. The game has a certain flow to the fights that feels really good to play. Despite some performance issues and overly simple gameplay, it still offers some fun. If you enjoyed the first one, then chances are you’ll also enjoy this iteration as well.

Overall, the world of The Coma 2 deserves a first hand expereince to truly engross oneself in it’s story. Unfortunately, the gameplay loop of The Coma 2 can sometimes feel a little repetitive, as many segments become a waiting game versus the Dark Song creature. Thankfully, the atmosphere never falters despite some weaker aspects.

7.5 / 10.0 - Nioh 2

The end result is a game that feels too familiar all the way through with fleeting moments of originality. That being said, it is still worth it for diehard Soulsborne fans and/or lovers of the original Nioh.

8.5 / 10.0 - Freedom Finger
Mar 28, 2020

In the end, Freedom Finger is a unique, and solid shoot ‘em up. Those looking for replayability can go down different branching paths in the campaign and aim for high scores in arcade mode. They can even play new missions included in the day one update. Add in the wonderful visuals and a splendid soundtrack, this is a no brainer for fans of the genre.

Owlchemy Labs did a great job bringing their Job Simulator formula to the Rick and Morty universe. While it’s a short experience, there’s plenty of things to experiment with, and tons of secrets to discover. The amount of interactive objects is commendable and fans of the series should love to see all the references. Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality is worth picking up for your VR headset if you’re simply a fan of the series looking for something to hold you over in the wait for more episodes.

Overall, the Shadow of Doom DLC is a worthy addition to the game, rounding out the ultimate alliance nicely. The story is entertaining enough to engage with and the additional characters bring a lot to the table. While there aren’t significant changes to the formula, it truly makes the game feel like the “ultimate” Marvel Ultimate Alliance game. A truly fantastic addition to an already mighty game.

Zombie Army 4 is incredibly fun, especially when playing with friends, but I feel it could feature slightly more content. The good thing is that the developer promised us a handful of new maps. Until then, I will be polishing my weapons and I will keep throwing molotov cocktails at zombies.

7.5 / 10.0 - Bleeding Edge
Mar 24, 2020

When all is said and done, Bleeding Edge does feel like a side project for the developer. While it does feel that way, there are some extremely redeeming qualities of it. The aesthetically pleasing style and the unique personality of the characters shine through the gameplay. Even though content is a little light, the game is half the price of a usual game, and it’s free on Xbox Game Pass. For what is available, the game is a lot of fun, and despite the slow progression, there’s always that feeling of “one more game” lingering.

5.5 / 10.0 - RBI Baseball 20
Mar 21, 2020

RBI Baseball 20 feels like it’s forcing itself in a position where it wants to be a middle ground between a simulation game like The Show series and an arcade experience like Mario Super Sluggers. Because of that, I feel like there could be so much more done with it. The game is still fun for the casual fan. Unfortunately, it needs to have more actual “arcade-like” aspects if it wants to become a truly great game.
