The Division 2 feels like a full package. It isn't always as polished as we've come to expect from a AAA experience, but then it does have the expected Ubisoftisms about it. It's buggy, but never intrusive. It has some questionable microtransactions, but they don't ever really affect you. It's repetitive and utterly meaningless, but it can be an incredibly satisfying experience.
One Piece: World Seeker’s only big flaw is that it tends to get a bit fetch-quest-grindy in parts. On the bright side, Luffy can sprint like the best professional athlete who’s on steroids, and you should have unlocked fast travel by the time the game starts to feel this way. That’s it. I can’t find any other fault with this game, except for maybe how I picked up the controller and suddenly, it was 7 hours later, and I almost forgot to put my pet chickens to bed because I was so engrossed in the game.
That’s pretty much the entire problem with Treasure Stack—it’s anemic. There’s certainly effort put into the game and it can be a little bit of fun from time to time. It’s definitely not a great game, though. And with so many different puzzle games available, including the almighty Tetris, there’s just not enough to make Treasure Stack worth a recommendation.
Generation Zero is a game propelled by its ability to be played with a group of friends. While its technical systems may be flawed, its world and mechanics are still engaging enough for fun-times-with-mates.
Sekiro is a game that somehow exceeds the already lofty expectations set by Dark Souls and Bloodborne before it.
Cultist Simulator’s mobile port is a shining example of how to port a game without sacrificing what makes it so great.
Hypnospace Outlaw offers once of the best point and click puzzle experiences in a long time that lets you think through the puzzles to find your own solution rather than being spoon fed the answers.
This is the zombie co-op shooter of the generation.
Forza Street is best avoided unless you’re really craving some late night breaking and accelerating around three corners.
If it wasn’t for Towers of Time’s reliance on grinding, Mortal Kombat 11 probably would have been my favourite fighter of the generation
At its core, Tropico 6 doesn’t do much to evolve from its predecessors, especially as it keeps the era system from 5 and brings back the political speeches and work modes from 4. However, that doesn’t mean it should be skipped.
A gorgeous and macabre tale that doesn’t shy away from its more fantastical underlying narrative. It’s not a perfect game, it definitely feels rather last-gen in some of its moment-to-moment gameplay, but an unforgettable story and unique mechanics hold it up high.
Sniper Elite has only evolved since this game’s original version, but the foundations here are still strong.
RICO is a charming game little game which is good fun to play if you can overlook some of its flaws.
if you’re a masochist who enjoys the thrill of being on the receiving end of the chase, this game is excellent for you. However, if you’re a person looking for an immersive narrative experience that allows you to explore without having to constantly watch your back for fear of having your spine prematurely removed, go play the first Layers of Fear instead.
Straight out of a time portal, Super Magic Cane Zero feels like an XBLA game that never was.
Hue is a short and sweet puzzling adventure. Each puzzle provides a challenge that both builds on previous puzzles as well as providing something new for the player to solve, all the while being aesthetically pleasing on the eyes. It runs fantastically on Switch, but the port is somewhat bare bones. It's still a solid puzzle platformer; great fun for anyone who has a few hours spare.
Void Bastards is full of personality—it’s also exploding with uniqueness. If you’re looking for a gorgeous survival title with unique gameplay, stellar visuals, a grand sense of humour and actually wants you to beat it; there isn’t much better than Void Bastards.
If you want a new location to shoot bandits in, this DLC is passable. While it’s free, there’s no harm in grabbing it. However, when Gearbox adds its pricetag, you’re better off getting something with a little more substance to it.
Team Sonic Racing is one of the best kart racers you can get, outside of the obvious Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It’s a brilliant entry in the genre, and a fantastic effort from Sumo Digital. While the exclusion of classic SEGA characters outside of the Sonic franchise is a bit of a let-down, this is the best Sonic racer money can buy.
