But Why Tho?'s Reviews

VA-11 HALL-A is one of the best visual novels available and a great starting point for those unfamiliar with the genre. It's delightfully polished retro-inspired visuals are accompanied by a truly original soundtrack and the stories of Jill and the various characters are immeasurably strong.

Throughout A Plague Tale, Amicia has to face reality and do horrible things; she is constantly faced with the question of how much is she willing to lose to keep Hugo safe. Just how far will they go to survive? It’s a beautiful, poetic game filled with human monsters who are willing to commit unspeakable atrocities. But, at its core, it's about the bond formed between two siblings.

Overall, Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland is a remarkably, bright, and colorful JRPG that JRPG enthusiasts or newcomers should experience. Its collection of characters, unique gameplay trifecta, and whimsical presentation provide a different and distinct JRPG experience that players will embark, enjoy, and remember long after the credits roll.

9 / 10.0 - Layers of Fear 2
Jun 4, 2019

Although less scary than the previous game, Layer of Fear 2 is a beautiful but chilling game with wonderful writing and voice-acting. It maintains pieces of the first game that many loved while changing enough so that it doesn't feel repetitive.

9 / 10.0 - My Friend Pedro
Jun 21, 2019

My Friend Pedro: Blood, Bullets Bananas is a wildly imaginative ride that will have you appreciate friendship, and nature's perfect fruit, the banana.  The sharp presentation is met with even sharper gameplay that is one of the most entertaining executions I have played this year.

9.5 / 10.0 - Super Mario Maker 2

When all is said and done I feel that Super Mario Maker 2 does an excellent job of delivering both an amazingly deep, and intuitive, creation tool, while coupling it with a fun single player campaign full of classic Nintendo charm.

8 / 10.0 - Forgotton Anne

Forgotten Anne is a visual joy, that tells a meaningful story. While some story elements are predictable, and a few of the platforming moments are a little subpar, the package as a whole is one I would recommend to anyone...

Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle is a fantastic video game adaptation, and sequel fans have been waiting for, that nails the gameplay mechanics for combat, and captures the core aesthetics of the anime series. I will say that the price for the DLC is pretty high at $39.99. However, the amount of content and new features you get is well worth it.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is a flawed experience that tried to rejuvenate a fan favorite franchise from yesteryear. However, instead it serves only to tarnish the memory many of us hold so fondly.

Red Faction: Guerilla Re-Mars-tered Edition's content is perfect for any time a young revolutionary needs to raise some hell on-the-go. It's a tremendous interstellar action experience and a testament to the timelessness of strong gaming mechanics.

8 / 10.0 - Fantasy Strike
Jul 25, 2019

Combined with the games visual and audio presentation, Fantasy Strike is a strong fighting experience. Each round one is a decisive victory and a small impactful reward that set itself apart from other fighters. The gameplay is unmistakably tight and will keep players coming back for that " one more time" level of gameplay.
