My time with Desktop Cat Cafe was short-lived and wasn’t great. I think the game has a lot of good bones, and it can be a great game at some point, but it needs a lot of love. At this moment, Desktop Cat Cafe is not worth $10 USD. I look forward to seeing it when it feels more complete.

Urban Jungle is a lot of fun to play and has many great points. I really enjoyed my time with it, and I look forward to seeing what this developer decides to work on next; I’m definitely a fan of what they have going on in this game! Overall, I really like it, and I think most cozy game lovers will think the same.

Escape From Mystwood Mansion is an extremely satisfying and well-rounded puzzle adventure. There is a good mix of puzzles and codes to decipher, varying in difficulty, but with the built-in hint system, nothing is frustrating. For anyone who enjoys escape room scenarios, then Escape From Mystwood Mansion will surely be a winner.

Ronny’s Climb is a short but sweet platformer that delivers a cosy and enjoyable experience. While it doesn’t introduce anything revolutionary to the genre, its smooth gameplay, charming art style, and heartwarming story make it a delightful game for players of all ages. The difficulty level makes it an especially good choice for families, younger gamers, or anyone looking for a relaxing adventure without the stress of a tough challenge. With a reasonable price point and a runtime of around three hours, it’s a great game for a casual evening of play. If you’re looking for a platformer that’s filled with charm and heart, Ronny’s Climb is definitely worth checking out.

Head Over Heels Deluxe is an odd but endearing experience, the kind of game that feels like an acquired taste but ultimately wins you over. Its unique characters and clever puzzles create an adventure that rewards patience and careful thinking. Playing it took me back to the golden days of gaming when creativity reigned supreme, and players were left to figure things out for themselves. That said, it’s not for everyone. Casual players may feel lost, and the game’s trial-and-error nature can be frustrating at times. But for fans of the original or anyone who loves retro-style puzzle-platformers, this is the definitive version of a classic.

I must admit to looking back longingly to the fighting and synthesising systems in Atelier Ryza and earlier games. The fighting feels too much like button mashing for me, and I miss all the complexity of older Atelier games. But I get that Gust wants to insert new things into each game and maybe make the Atelier games accessible to new players, and it all comes down to personal preference. That being said, the building part of Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land is a nice addition. I love the exploration part; I’m just curious about what’s around the corner. The deep narrative and the way alchemy is portrayed made me instantly like Yumia—no overly enthusiastic youngster but a quiet girl with a history. This is a good successor to the Secret trilogy and a great entry point for newcomers.

Microtopia is a deep, highly detailed management sim that rewards careful planning and patience. Its unique premise, striking art style, and intricate automation mechanics make it a standout experience in the genre. However, its complexity and time requirements mean it won’t appeal to everyone. Casual players may find themselves lost in its depth, but those who enjoy in-depth strategy games and optimization challenges will likely find it incredibly rewarding. If you’re a fan of management sims and enjoy perfecting automated systems, Microtopia is well worth a try. A free prologue is available on Steam, allowing you to test the waters before committing to the full experience

Liked-a-lot - Mycelium Heaven
Mar 12, 2025

I did not entirely enjoy my time with Mycelium Heaven, but I think that was on me. It’s just not my type of game. It’s very death-centric in a way that just didn’t appeal to me. The graphics were cute, but the subject matter, coupled with the very goopy corpse sounds, turned me off completely. Overall, I believe Mycelium Heaven is a great game for a very specific audience, and I am just not part of that audience. While my rating for the game is “I Like It A Lot”, think of it more as “The Right Person Will Like It A Lot.” It’s a well-made, beautiful, interesting, and unique game. Given its polish, I am certain that if you like this kind of game and are looking for some very difficult puzzles, Mycelium Heaven could be the perfect pick for you.

Mar 12, 2025

My Little Life is a charming little game that sits on the edge of your screen, allowing you a brief respite from everyday work. With its cute pixel graphics and easy-to-get-used-to gameplay mechanics, it’s reinventing the desktop pets mechanic of old and giving it a new lease on life.

Mind-blown - Wanderstop
Mar 11, 2025

Wanderstop easily became one of my favorite games ever, not only because it combined all of my favorite things but also because of its heart and humor. I completed the game in about 11 hours, and while I was satisfied with its length, I wouldn’t mind meeting the characters again. I will surely miss Boro and Alta. If you like tea, magical farming, and gorgeous cozy fantasy, you will probably love Wanderstop as much as I did.

Clutter 17: Flower Power Collector’s Edition is an unlikely hero in puzzle games, at least in my book. It doesn’t look as polished as some of its modern-day competitors. But it still delivers a great gaming experience, whether you are a die-hard fan of the puzzle genre or a casual gamer looking for a quick puzzle game while on a break.

Morkull Ragast’s Rage doesn’t bring a ton of new ideas to the table, but what it offers is a solid, well-crafted platforming adventure with a lot of personality. Morkull himself is a fantastic lead, carrying the game with his quirky humour and fourth-wall-breaking antics. The gameplay is tight and enjoyable, though combat can be hit-or-miss, and navigation issues may test your patience. The difficulty makes it best suited for experienced players, as the punishing soul-loss system and challenging encounters may frustrate more casual players. But if you’re up for a tough but rewarding platforming experience, Morkull Ragast’s Rage delivers a fun, chaotic ride through a beautifully animated, villainous adventure.

Wyrmhall: Brush and Banter surprised me in a way—I did not expect to like it as much as I did. With its wholesome storyline, relaxing gameplay, and atmosphere, it will be an easy favourite for many people. And I won’t mind if there’s a sequel or a DLC in the future—giving us a chance to clean some more fantastical artefacts and to meet some more funky characters.

Trolls vs. Vikings: Reborn isn’t reinventing the tower defense genre, but for those who love the simple yet complex options of similar games like Plants vs. Zombies, this is going to be a welcome treat. With accessible difficulty and intuitive handling, it’s easy to drop a lot of time noodling around with your tactical options, feeling clever until you’re ready to up the heat on yourself. That makes Trolls vs. Vikings a good contender for your first tower defense-style game, too. For those who like tougher challenges, Trolls vs. Vikings has your back, too. The Valhalla difficulty challenges are exactly that: beat them, and you can rest knowing that Odin himself might admire your strategic wits. Me, I’ll be in the back playing Normal with the old dude’s ravens, Hugin and Munin. They cheat, but they’re good listeners.

There is a lot to like about Sugardew Island. The Forest Folk are so cute as they run into the shop to purchase the items you’ve worked hard to produce. The colourful graphics, delightful animals, and straightforward gameplay are appealing, and although the island locals aren’t the most chatty, it’s fun to learn about their stories. However, with the issues around upgrading tools and the numerous software crashes, I can’t recommend Sugardew Island at this time. Hopefully, the developers will hack away these thorny problems very quickly because there is an adorable farm shop simulation game waiting for us on Sugardew Island.

Home Deco Builder is a good game and offers plenty of customisation, but the inability to change wall and floor colours manually and the inability to rotate the rooms make it fall short of what could be a great entry into the home renovation genre.

Liked-a-lot - Boxville
Mar 5, 2025

Boxville is a short but wonderful puzzle adventure about friendship. For me, the lack of Pro Controller use just dipped my overall enjoyment, but if handheld (or mouse via PC) is your preferred gaming style, then Boxville is a great game to play. The graphics are fantastic, and although a couple of the puzzles were a little challenging, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Blue Can and his tin dog in Boxville.
