Cairn is a well-rounded game that I’d recommend to all kinds of players. Its gameplay and art style make it a truly polished title. The inventory management, the planning involved in the climb, and the memorable moments from the ascent of Mount Kami all combine to make it a unique game, and I’d go so far as to say it’s one of the best indie games we’ll see in 2026.

It’s still a Japanese horror game with good intentions. It gets a lot of things right, but it’s let down by technical flaws. That said, it has a good story and some decent, clever puzzles, and it’s worth acknowledging the work of the studio founded by two brothers who have good intentions and certainly the talent to grow.
