Prima Games's Reviews

It’s a bit rough around the edges, especially on the Switch. But Death end re;Quest is easily one of the most creative games in Idea Factory’s stable, and if you missed it before there’s plenty of value in checking it out now.

I’ve come away from Disgaea 6 more confused than disappointed, honestly. It’s still absolutely a game of its series in every way. The meat and potatoes are present and accounted for. But some of the seasoning tastes a little weird.

7 / 10.0 - Cris Tales

In sum, we have a creative, solid and flawed game. The kind of game that makes a service like Xbox Game Pass sing.

While Assassin’s Creed Mirage may not have hit every mark that I hoped it would, with cumbersome combat and a general feeling of lost identity leading the pack, I can still happily recommend Assassin’s Creed Mirage to anyone hoping to spark the enjoyment of a franchise they once fell in love with.

7.5 / 10.0 - AEW: Fight Forever
Jul 14, 2023

AEW Fight Forever draws inspiration from WWF No Mercy for Nintendo 64, so here we have a double dose of wrestling and retro gaming fanaticism all rolled up into one.

Despite my personal enjoyment of the new horror title and its previous games, objectively, Layers of Fear’s superficial gameplay will likely scare off players who want more than a story-driven walking simulator.

Studio Milestone are, without a doubt, the experts for bike games in the gaming industry today, not so much because they are particularly very good, but because few other developers bother with simulations of all conceivable disciplines and forms of motorbike racing.

7.5 / 10.0 - Have a Nice Death
Mar 16, 2023

There’s a lot to delve into this game, but I feel that it lacks something unique. Between its corny (but sometimes excessively cringe) dialogue, fast-paced gameplay, and amazing art direction, it ultimately falls into the “Great, but nothing special” category for me.

I swear… I love this game, but man I was asking for it when a remake came back with all of its clumsy mechanics.

Despite all the big colors, cute puppets and obscure tracks there’s still a distinct feeling that something’s missing. At the same time, I’m having a blast playing anyway.

At the end of the day, Warhammer 40K: Darktide is a thoroughly enjoyable experience (especially when you can run it).

7.5 / 10.0 - Forspoken
Jan 23, 2023

The best way to describe Forspoken is like good RPG junk food. You know there are better options out there, but you’re going to finish the whole bag and think about it later.

7.5 / 10.0 - Dwarf Fortress
Dec 6, 2022

Buy the game for you and everyone you know, move away to a remote, off-the-grid cottage in the mountains, and don’t go back to the city until you master Dwarf Fortress. You will find that the madness of this game is more appealing than the madness of the real world most of the time.

7.5 / 10.0 - Gotham Knights

Sure there are technical snaggles and pitfalls here and there. Some of them deeper than others. But I’m so glad Gotham Knights cares enough to take that home run swing in the first place.

7.5 / 10.0 - Potionomics
Oct 14, 2022

Potionomics isn’t a “chill vibes” kind of management sim. It’s a “survive misery by being ironically miserable yourself” kind of management sim. It’s like when you work at Walmart and everything about it is terrible, but you find relief in commiserating with your coworkers. But instead of having fun talking trash and doing dangerous things like mishandling equipment or flirting, you’re doing reckless magical chemistry and trading ribs with a talking owl. And flirting.

7.5 / 10.0 - Soul Hackers 2
Aug 18, 2022

It turned out to be a pretty interesting combination of classic SMT systems, lots of nerdy skill tinkering and a story about adults fighting for a world very similar to our own and figuring out why along the way. Not bad for a series that can’t get its own name straight!

If you just let Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time wash over you, you’ll probably have a great time. But if you want to dig in more beneath the surface, or dress Crash up like a pirate, you’ll be leaving that great time behind.

7.5 / 10.0 - Watch Dogs: Legion
Nov 2, 2020

Watch Dogs: Legion feels like a culmination of lessons learned in open-world games of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One era. It’s certainly a nice send-off for this generation of consoles and is an easy recommendation for any fans of the series, or open-world games in general.

I kept playing and playing, and just couldn’t settle on how I felt about its stories and systems. But when I sat down to write and could barely remember who the characters in each alliance scenario were, that clenched it.

The Sickos need love every now and then. Capcom Fighting Collection is a weird, wonderful compilation that never would’ve existed ten years ago. And at the very least for the broader fighter audience, Red Earth is cool as hell and arguably worth the price of admission by itself.
