Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments brings the world's most famous detective to the Nintendo Switch in an enveloping, thrilling game that gives the player a great amount of freedom to set out, gather elements and solve the cases at hand. While the Nintendo Switch has its graphical limits and the character's control doesn't always feel as natural as it should, the core of the gameplay experience is spot-on, and the game's structure and plot do a marvelous work at integrating the player in the world of Sherlock Holmes.

LEGO Bricktales brings the LEGO building experience to a game format, and one that's accessible and welcoming to a wide segment of the audience. While the game does feature a structuring plot and some exploration, it's the building that's the star here, and LEGO Bricktales does a good job at presenting a fun building challenge that's worthy of the LEGO name and fame.

7 / 10 - Omno
Oct 13, 2022

OMNO captures the player's attention with its charming art style and welcomes everyone with a gameplay that's simple and accessible. The third chapter in the Azure Striker Gunvolt series takes few risks with its formula and mostly uses familiar elements that most players will recognize. This does not mean there aren't any new features, and the way the two main characters are used shows just that. When it comes to most of its experience though, it's very reminiscent of its preceding chapters, and that can only be good when it comes to frantic gameplay and an exquisite game world. Pity for the difficulty level though, as Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 really is as simple and accessible as it can be.

The gameplay is accessible and even though the game experience is rather slow-paced, this is in no way an obstacle to enjoy it - quite the contrary, it's where Arise's experience turns out to excel the most with its enveloping qualities, simple but gorgeous worlds and exquisite soundtrack. These are all further topped by this Definitive Edition, that brings a welcome additional content to the Nintendo Switch.

Please, Touch The Artwork tries to go beyond the usual experience of a puzzle game and adapts the artwork of abstract artist Piet Mondrian to a series of challenges that players will have to solve. Simple but remarkable as a principle, this is a game that has no problems whatsoever in delivering an enveloping experience. Fans of puzzle games will appreciate the originality, whereas others will find themselves easily seduced by the relationship between gaming and art.

The third chapter in the series brings the Xenoblade name to heights that were difficult to imagine just a few years ago but which this game's immense world, enthralling plot, cast of characters, myriad of complex but perfectly implemented gameplay mechanics, and gorgeous environment to look at and to listen to help reaching in what amounts to a fantastic opus that can be carried anywhere. 5 / 10 - Dusk Diver 2
Sep 12, 2022

First and foremost, the cast of playable characters, which is easily one of the best elements in the game and stands out for the best reasons. On the other hand, the changes to its combat make it a lot less engaging due to a low difficulty level that will have players spending a lot of time to defeat an enemy with very little challenge from their weak combat skills. The level design too falls below expectations, as its dungeons are too repetitive and unoriginal, which ends up making it hard to keep the player's attention. There was a lot of potential that unfortunately was not explored and Dusk Diver 2's good ideas don't quite mitigate the rest.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes introduces different elements compared to its predecessor and seems to give us a hybrid experience between the Fire Emblem and Dynasty Warriors series, and a competent game at that too. With its tripartite story lines that will intersect during the game, dynamic combat, as well as fun and motivating gameplay, Three Hopes could benefit from more variety in its missions but overall, what we have here is a very competent and well executed game that combines some of the best elements of the two series it's inspired in.

With a very good control system and ways to guide new players, this new Mario Strikers knows how to integrate everyone. At the same time, there's a disappointing lack o content compared to the other games, and its single player experience feels too limited and quick to explore. The online multiplayer is an absolute joy and the main selling point, even if it's missing functionalities we've seen in other games, but solo players will feel like their experience is too short.

Lamplight City is a point and click adventure that tries a novel approach with regards to its exploration, as the player can take the main events in any order and is allowed to fail specific objectives as the game's very flexible plot will adapt to such choices. In that regard, as well as its attractive art style, Lamplight City is an interesting game. Its puzzles suffer from a level of difficulty that ends up making them too simplistic though, and as such the challenge can get too repetitive but it nonetheless remains a game very much worth exploring.

6 / 10 - Monark
Aug 12, 2022

Monark presents us with an experience that draws inspiration from landmark RPG series while also hinting at a survival horror experience. It does a good job when it comes to its attractive art style, a flexible and smooth character development system, a challenging combat, and its plot with themes related to the human ego. Unfortunately the game's execution stands on the way to delivering a fine experience, and the frequent slowdowns that happen even more often during combat, as well as a simplistic level structure make this a game that's unable to stand up to its peers, even if it should not be disregarded by RPG fans.

The House of the Dead: Remake brings the original game up to today's standards when it comes to its graphics and controllers, and adds a very welcome and addictive game mode, all good reasons to see this as a successful work on the Nintendo Switch. Its technical performance could be better though, with slowdowns taking place in busier moments, especially in multiplayer, and long loading times that will test the players' patience.

5 / 10 - Itadaki Smash
Jul 15, 2022

It follows the regular conventions that we expect to see and does good when it comes to its character cast, with a reasonable assortment of moves, game modes that propose different rules and a good touch of humour. However those looking for a more in-depth experience might not find it in Itadaki Smash's simplistic development, and the way the hit box is implemented might leave more seasoned players to raise their eyebrows at what's on offer.

7 / 10 - Card Shark
Jul 13, 2022

Card Shark is not a conventional cards or casino game - in fact, it's not even a game that fits with the conventions of that world, Card Shark is rather a story of deceit and intrigue in 18th century France as the player moves through gambling halls using a variety of card tricks against an assortment of adversaries. Featuring a fantastic art style that's reminiscent of bandes dessinées, a captivating plot and characters and a series of tricks to learn, Card Shark would be even better if it was longer and featured more card tricks.

Wreckfest delivers a competent, frantic and fun arcade racing experience coupled with vehicle destroying action, and it all works as good as we expect it to. Thanks to a very good adaptation, the Nintendo Switch runs Wreckfest impeccably well, allowing players to enjoy this varied, vehicle smashing experience for many hours, whether on solo or multiplayer.
