Gameffine's Reviews
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is an absolute Joy to play with a miraculous world to explore and a brilliant combat style to fight in. The mix of turn-based with real-time elements adds another level of thrill to the already existing strategy-based play style which is gradually improved as you progress. An exciting storyline along with iconic characters makes the journey and all the cutscenes a joy to watch. Having a fairly serious difficulty, it definitely tests the players in all aspects while allowing many difficulty settings for players who chose otherwise. Overall Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is definitely one of the best Nintendo Switch Games Releases of 2022. And it leaves no reason to not be included in this year’s Game of The Year Nomination. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is an essential game to have if you own a Nintendo Switch Console.
PGA Tour 2K23 is of the best golf simulation games available in the market right now. It is welcoming to new players and already has many situations and challenges for veteran players to test their skills with. You can choose multiple game modes or stick with the classic career mode alone or with friends. However, the game has certain micro-transaction elements that could’ve been avoided and upgrades could be cheaper so players can focus on working on their skill more than working to grind credits. Having its own fair share of drawbacks, we would rather advise you to wait for a sale, or wait for some changes made to the game.
The Wayward Strand is a heartfelt tale, told in a meticulous way. It features over a dozen characters, each with its own timeline and story. All these stories playout in real-time alongside each other, throughout the ship which greatly bolsters the game’s replayability. It may not stick the landing in the early hours but if you hold on to it for longer, it will not disappoint you.
Sunday Gold is a satire of real London through and through, clad in an aesthetic colour pallet. The plot might seem exaggerated—cybernetic animal bloodsports, secret cyborg labs, billionaire vampires gutting an over-industrialized city—however much of the stuff is based on real-world scenarios. If you read the newspapers, emails, notes and magazines in the game, you’ll know what I’m talking about. However, the game still lacks in-depth combat, even becoming tedious at times especially when you can’t catch a break from random encounters while ending your turn. Despite all that, I would totally play a sequel starring these ragtag trio again.
If you are looking for 3D sims with a cute anime cast, Idol manager is not your piece of cake. However, if you want to take things up a notch and want to play management sims, it is a solid entry point for beginners and veterans alike. Its in-game forecasts and audience give the game a sense of realism rarely seen in such genres.
While we do have a heart for the game, we do recommend you to try the game and increase the playerbase to the glory it deserves. But if you’re on a budget, wait for the playerbase to revive itself and several patches to optimize the game.
The game tried to mirror most of the things that happened on the TV. But when it’s a game, it needs to be engaging and should ask more questions. But it has priority towards the animations and transitions. Even if you consider playing it with friends and family, they might choose other games as an option.
Bullets Per Minutes is an absolute badass roguelike game with rhythmic shooting and traversal. The Nintendo Switch version did take a big hit in the graphics, but it still has its absolutely amazing fluidity and shooting style. The difficulty arc may make you call it the Aim Labs of the Nintendo Switch, but that is how the game was built to be. Only if you are up to the challenge, give this game a shot! To the beat!
Despite its uninspired level design, maze-like maps, and a lacklustre story, Thymesia manages to deliver on its gameplay which is fast, frantic, and fun. It does not stand shoulder to shoulder with its big league counterparts whose ideas it largely borrows, but it does implement them in a fine way. Considering its lack of regional pricing you should pick this up while it is on sale.
If you’ve completed the base game and still looking to cure that Ghostrunner itch, you can find respite in the Ghostrunner Complete Edition till the sequel drops. Project_Hel is as intense as the base game with an equally thumping OST albeit being very short. Not to mention, it gets repetitive after a while just like the base game. Even with the addition of new game modes, you won’t find anything revolutionary to justify the pricing of the Complete Edition. However, if money isn’t the concern, then for me it’s a recommendation
Aquadine is a thrilling visual-novel experience with a brilliant art style and beautiful character design. Each character involved in the story only adds more life to the storyline and as a whole delivers an invigorating experience to the reader. Backed with amazing music that sets the mood of the situation, the game is topped with amazing features allowing users to go back and forth with the story at any point in time.
Do you want to play Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed? Yes if you want to have something silly and not trying to be woke (I see you Saints Row) is open world and not GTA, and is varied enough that you may just be able to finish it. My advise if you do buy it, turn down the difficulty, don’t worry about the secondary objectives, and go crazy.
I think The Last of Us is the most important game in the video game industry. It is not only the best looking, but it also delivers one of the most unique storytelling experience in terms of dialogue and cinematography. Having a robust game design that has stood the test of time, the game is a visual spectacle to behold. Even the smallest attention to detail and accessibility options just adds praise for the game. The only thing that can set you back is the pricing of the game for the PS5
The Company Man is truly an interesting take on an Action Platformer game. It provides brilliant mechanics to traverse around the entire game design, which is complemented by a mind-blowing art style which truly sets the plot at any level. However, certain enemy type breaks the flow of the games, which forces you to spend more time with a level. And the storyline which starts well slowly breaks apart as it develops towards the climax.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is great on PS4, PS5 and it’s greater on PC. If you have a decent RTX-friendly setup, this is how the game should be experienced. The lack of regional pricing and non-inclusion of Miles Morales did end up a sour taste in my mouth. The perks of living in an uber-captialist world I suppose. As for the game, it’s pure superhero bliss.
I had a fun time playing Fobia – St. Dinfna Hotel with some frustrations regarding puzzles and lack of a map. During my 10-hour playthrough, i barely had any performance issues. The game is currently priced at 699 INR on Steam and for the price its asking its completely worth it and players looking for some horror action game after playing recent Resident Evil titles should feel right at home although it lacks some iconic antagonists like Mr.X and Lady Dimitrescu, it should fill a void of your horror games until a new Resident Evil title drops. Fobia – St. Dinfna Hotel is available right on PS4, PS5, XBOX ONE, XBOX SERIES X and S and PC via steam.
While the narrative is a complete bummer, you are offered an entire catalogue of enemy variety, each with a different way to fight and a different medium to kill. But it lacks in terms of the story, narrative or even the OST. The difficulty of the game will make many users look away since even after giving dedicated time, it is hard to progress in the game. The combat is a letdown, and you may need to progress further in the game to find extra collectables that will finally give you the edge, but until then, you will be repeating the death-parkour-checkpoint loop.
Starship Troopers: Terran Command tries to stay as original to the source material as possible, but that proves to be a hurdle when it comes to experimentation with game mechanics. It seems like very basic point-and-click tactics more than an actual strategy game, since there is little strategy involved in this game other than finding the right unit combinations to counter enemies and using unit abilities at the right time. This is one “real-time strategy game” I’d recommend people to stay away from – there are tons of better real-time strategy games to try out.
Redout 2 provides a unique arcade racing experience that few other games can compete with. If you find the modern trend of open-world racing games disturbing and want to try something a little different – this game’s definitely for you. If you’re a big fan of high-stakes racing, the high-octane experience provided by the game is sure to keep you stirring in your seat like a child. A fair word of warning – if you’re not willing to invest time in mastering the art of arcade racing at insane speeds, Redout 2 isn’t for you.
Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition has managed to ruin the unique aesthetic and feel of the original largely thanks to an inaccurate AI-upscaling method and some questionable design choices. To be honest, the only ‘upgrade’ in the remaster over the original is the addition of cutscenes and controller support. The decision to de-list the original from GOG was also a crappy move. But, as an apology, Nightdive is giving away the original, titled Blade Runner Classic when you purchase the Enhanced Edition on Steam (it was limited to GOG at launch). Both of these classic versions are powered by the ScummVM project and there is even an option to play a version with cut content. If you ask me, you’re better off playing the original than this so-called “Enhanced Edition”. But, if the only selling point of your remaster is the ability to play the unaltered version, then what’s the point of remastering it in the first place? That being said, Nightdive has a good record of patching their remasters until they’re in an acceptable state (reference: Blood: Fresh Supply). I do not know how much they can salvage from this messy launch but until then, it’s better to stay away from Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition. But if you’re desperately itching to revisit the classic, you can buy it for a reasonable $9.99 and play the original with ScummVM.
