Destroy All Humans! Clone Carnage is one huge step back for the franchise. Even if the gunplay wasn't lackluster, it's incredibly hard to join a lobby without receiving multiple errors.
Postal 4: No Regerts is an attempt by developers Running with Scissors to recapture whatever magic (if you can call it that), that Postal 2 had. But it suffers from an abundance of performance issues, terrible gameplay mechanics, and poor jokes. It certainly left me with plenty of regerts.
Dolmen is devoid of any soul, any passion. It feels like the product of burn-out and boredom halfway through development, as the game is pushed through the finish line.
Living in the shadow of Rocksteady's Arkham series, Gotham Knights can't seem to leave a mark for even the biggest Batman fans. A wave of performance issues only makes the decent combat and terrible traversal worse, and a good story won't help it alone.
Godfall's "Ultimate Edition" is the biggest package yet, but simply puts on a fresh coat of paint over the marks and scuffs to try and hide. There's a fun core, which is brought down by other mistakes.
Mario Strikers: Charged had almost perfected the formula well over a decade ago and, in comparison, Battle League feels like a watered-down version. It has much simpler gameplay, fewer characters and stadiums, much less single-player content, and a fraction of the attitude of Charged.
Despite all the content that players will find in MX vs ATV Legends, they'll find a lack of focus on the user interface and the quality of life for the players. Something that truly holds back what could have been a great motocross racing game.
Despite adding new locations, new cleaners, and new warped ridden to the fray, Back 4 Blood: Tunnels of Terror doesn't feel substantial enough to warrant a comeback. But if you never left, then Tunnels of Terror might be exactly what you were waiting for to spice things up.
Nintendo Switch Sports offers the same pick-up and play fun that its predecessors did before it. While it doesn't reach new heights, it at least offers more polish than ever before, and the potential for some extremely memorable local multiplayer gameplay.
Sniper Elite 5 is a tactical shooter that rewards players who take in their surroundings and plan their move before diving in. It's a lot of fun, but if you weren't a fan of the series before then chances this one isn't for you either.
Outriders: Worldslayer can be boiled down to "more Outriders". It's a highlight reel of what makes Outriders so fun, tightening the combat, gameplay and build to it's best yet. And with an exciting endgame too. But those who didn't enjoy the base game won't find anything new to love here.
Saints Row offers players a welcome return to a familiar franchise but fails to push the boat out. There's plenty to enjoy for new and returning fans but in dialing back the wackiness, the franchise might have lost its greatest strength.
Young Souls is a promising new side-scrolling brawler with beautiful design and addictive gameplay that manages to distract from the lack of variety and various glitches that plague the title.
Trek to Yomi is a beautiful ode to the Japanese silent action films of the 1960s. Its beautiful visuals and engaging combat mechanics make it a great ride from start to finish.
Despite its shortcomings, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands manages to cement itself as one of the best games in the series due to its whimsical storytelling and captivating gunplay. It may not be better than Borderlands 2, but it's definitely on the right track.
Rogue Legacy 2 builds upon everything Rogue Legacy established and improves on it in every way. Its addictive gameplay and beautiful world-building are enough to make it one of our favorite games of the year.
Sonic Origins is a fantastic dive into the beginning of the iconic blue hedgehog that offers plenty of content for your money. Despite this, new fans may grow tired of how similar these classic games are. Longtime fans will probably welcome how much classic retro Sonic content there is and spends hours exploring all the different modes and challenges.
Ghostwire: Tokyo is one of the freshest new IPs I've played in years. While its open-world clutter comes off as frustrating at first, the fun combat, great enemy design, palpable tension, and intriguing plot create a unique, and great, experience.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land brings everyone's favorite pink hero into a 3D environment for the first time in a mainline title - and it just feels right. One of the Nintendo Switch's best casual offerings, particularly for those who enjoy couch co-op.
Bloodhunt makes some refreshing changes to an overdone genre, offering a vampiric twist on a multiplayer Battle Royale that is unique and distinct. Graphically gorgeous, extremely fun to play, and with no pay-to-win makes Bloodhunt worth trying. But one bite, and you'll be playing constantly!
