The Thaumaturge confirms the positive trend of CRPGs of the last period, but offers its own completely original take on the genre. The setting in early 20th century Warsaw of the adventures of our tormented Wiktor adds a very special flavour to this dark-toned production.

The Outlast Trials learns what good things have been achieved in terms of settings and gameplay in the two main titles of the series and succeeds in presenting an innovative, addictive product capable of bringing players together in a horror environment. However, the multiplayer formula may not be appreciated by genre purists, who would find Red Barrels' latest effort an underwhelming and slightly monotonous experience (all the more so when played as a single player).

The remake of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a work that brings back in an up-to-date guise a title that thrilled thousands of players in 2013. However, the genre to which it belongs pushes very little towards replayability, and consequently, also accomplice to the fact that there is almost nothing new in terms of gameplay (only the split screen), the purchase is motivated mainly for those who have never had the pleasure of interacting with the work before.

Trapped in Limbo, the second DLC of Atomic Heart, is wrong. So wrong. Wrong in the way it wants to tell something, wrong in the attempt to turn the game into something else, wrong in intent and form. Hopefully Mundfish will heed these criticisms, but this is two DLCs out of two that fall far short of expectations. How many more times can we forgive them?

Dicefolk is a roguelite based on turn-based combat with dice that introduces the possibility of also commanding the opposing team. It is an original and well-crafted title that guarantees a good number of hours of fun.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a remake without great pretensions, for one of the funniest puzzle-platform games in the history of the mustachioed plumber. Without great pretensions, yes, but with various new features and also an almost hardcore drift that makes you think: perhaps the developers got carried away? Perhaps they tried to touch the chords of a more adult audience inclined to try to solve an enigma? Maybe. In all of this, the 2004 game has been brought back to light, and it's a good showing for Nintendo.

We are not talking about a perfect title, but we must recognize Ubisoft's commitment to a game world that leaves room for freedom of activity and exploration, which aims for long-term replayability, thanks also to the updates expected to arrive shortly . In summary, the product is valid and brings good potential into play.

With Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft we received a fantastic remaster that impressed us. It clearly demonstrates that old classics can shine even today, after 28 years. Lara Croft's "new" adventure is simply fantastic. However, it must be kept in mind that these are still old school games, so we must say that there will be no shortage of trial and error sessions, especially when precise jumps are required. Apart from this and a few bugs, it is a workmanlike remaster, and we hope that other software houses will follow this example. Aspyr's product is truly successful.

Helldivers 2 is a product that entertains, involves and encourages teamwork as has rarely been seen in the videogame scene. The mechanics currently presented can easily give it the award for best Live Service released so far, but as we well know, time will be the true judge. Nonetheless, considering the affordable price and the fluid gameplay system, Helldivers 2 certainly deserves a chance for all PS5 and PC owners.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden marks the full evolution of Don't Nod. Thanks to the appreciable alchemy between the narrative component and the gameplay, the new effort from the transalpine house is engaging and exciting. Although the world map is not particularly incisive and some technical issues are slightly revisable, the path taken by the French guys is undoubtedly the right one.

Characterized by a unique graphic sector, Ultros is a metroidvania that dares a lot, both artistically and in terms of gameplay. Maybe even too much, in some circumstances. However, if you are nostalgic for games like Metroid Fusion, dive into the dreamlike atmosphere of Sarcophagus as soon as possible.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is a solid, fun, fast Action RPG, which in our opinion should be talked about more. Despite not being part of the most famous sagas of the genre, the Cygames title can easily lead the way among the competition thanks to a highly respectable artistic sector and a gameplay that manages to entertain, even for several hours after the conclusion of the main quest. With many unlockable characters, each with their own fighting style, and an epic and exhilarating (albeit stereotyped) plot, Granblue Fantasy is a highly recommended title for lovers of the genre. Originality is not always a must, sometimes it is nice to return to familiar stylistic features that work in their simplicity.

Persona 3 Reload is the best way to get started with Atlus' JRPG series. Its mysterious story with the improvements of the following chapters is a great recipe for this remake. And it's not far from perfection. Unfortunately, Tartarus is still empty and the developers did not have the temptation to add the additional content already present in past re-releases. However, the excellent new aesthetics, improved gameplay and Italian translation are factors that make Persona 3 Reload an unmissable purchase for JRPG fans.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a game that does everything it can to be fun. Really, everything: there are always missions to complete, enemies to eliminate, the gameplay is quite satisfying even if enormously chaotic, the weapons are as crazy as the protagonists, and the story is well written (until a few moments before the finale) . The problem is the very nature of the project, born at a time when this genre was being born and published at a time when this genre has already demonstrated its enormous limits. Rocksteady's Metropolis, then, doesn't have even a shred of the magnificence of Gotham City, and the endgame fails to make an impact, not even on the settings. We'll see what the future holds for us, but the impression is that Suicide Squad will be remembered as something that tried to cherish dreams of glory, and that it won't succeed. The real Rocksteady, let's be clear, is not this.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the fantastic sequel to the excellent Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Ichiban's new adventure will make you have fun, but also shed just as many tears: we will witness Kiryu's swan song, in what will in effect be a handover. We are talking about an extremely long-lasting game, full of twists and turns and full of well-curated secondary activities. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is already one of the best games in the saga.

Tekken 8 is packed with modes, story, and customizable options that should allow players of all skill levels to have fun. Battles against veteran players in the multiple online modes will likely be a punishing experience for new players. However, the latest installment offers the franchise's best tools for mastering each of the 32 playable characters. Despite being more accessible than ever, Tekken 8 is challenging to master and continues to establish itself as one of the most complex and rewarding fighting games in video games.

We can finally applaud the fact that the entire Ace Attorney series is now available on modern platforms, with the exception of Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney and Miles Edgeworth Investigations games. And for €49.99 new players really get incredible value for money. Unfortunately, historical fans of the series only receive small bonuses, which at the moment do not justify a new purchase. Let's hope that Capcom redeems itself soon with a new chapter, since this trilogy, despite over 80 hours of content, leaves us eager to take on the role of our favorite investigative lawyer again!
